Ubuntu 20.10 server on a ESXi Bare Metal Hypervisor on rPi4/8 can be modified to Desktop version of choice. Mine is now Ubuntu MATE (as shown in the attached screenshot)

The installation steps are the same as that of installing a Debian Bullseye . Used 'ubuntu-20.10-live-server-arm64.iso' and the result can be seen in the attached screenshot

https://flings.vmware.com/esxi-arm-edition ESXi opens up new opportunities to run multiple Virtual Machines on rPi-4 (4 & 8 GB RAM) . The Debian 'bullseye' setting up was just as easy as setting it up on x86 .

Quite, the next Debian Release Bullseye will support both ARMHF & ARM64 and be supported until 2024 .......
Even the pre-release 'Bullseye testing' on rPi4, with Kernel 5.8.x , has several advantages over the 5.4.x versions.
