Re: Scratch Bug

Me and Tim discussed this, and I've found a fix. The issue is due to the Debian package inheriting a patch from the original Debian packager making it link against the system libjpeg (rather than the rather ancient libjpeg bundled in the squeak-vm sources). For some reason, it seems squeak-vm isn't ...

Re: Experimental enhanced X driver (rpifb)

I've packaged up fbturbo, and you can now install it from the Foundation's Raspbian repo with sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-fbturbo fbturbo should be used by default when you startx. If in doubt, check /var/log/Xorg.0.log. If you wish to disable fbturbo, then either ...

Re: Official V4L2 driver

I've built a v4l-utils 1.0 deb for armhf wheezy (Raspbian) and added it to our foundation repos (archive.raspberrypi.org) so you should no longer need to manually build it. Just sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install v4l-utils Please report back. Also, version of the firmware in the repos is no...

Re: Experimental enhanced X driver (rpifb)

Of course everything depends on whether the Raspberry Pi users are interested in a faster X11 desktop or not. So far it looks like nobody cares, and the community is just waiting for a wayland silver bullet to save the day. Which is of course also fine, and means less work for me to do ;) Thanks fo...

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

Thanks for the report regarding Raspbian picking up language settings - it's my bad, I made the mistake of coding and testing after my brain had shutdown for the evening so a hardcoded language selection was left in.

Re: Overclocking

What I am trying to find out is when you use raspi config, does it change any settings within Linux that controls the dynamic clocking? When you set overclock with raspi-config, it adds a script to /etc/init.d that runs at boot and switches the CPU governor to the "ondemand" governor (and tries to ...

Re: trouble building the distro in VirtualBox

You're identifying things are errors which really aren't e.g. `umount: /dev/nbd0: not mounted` is fine, it just got unmounted earlier in the process. As for the export script, check whether you have a stage3.img. I think that particular script just doesn't set the success flag properly (sorry, these...

Re: trouble building the distro in VirtualBox

Great, that's definitely got you round the qemu issue. There's nothing wrong with the other output you post, so it should run to completion now. Most things only need to be downloaded once (though network access is always required). The packages for stage0 aren't cached though (it's a bit of a pain ...

Re: trouble building the distro in VirtualBox

Hi chronodekar, thanks for giving spindle a go (I'm the author). There are issues with the latest version of qemu in Debian, so you'll need to run the included downgrade_qemu script after entering `schroot -c spindle` and before doing `./wheezy-stage0`. Do let me know how that works out for you. I'v...

Re: Experimental enhanced X driver (rpifb)

IMHO this proves But first we need to come up with a better driver name. It's indeed controversial to use the driver named "sunxifb" (which implies Allwinner) on Raspberry Pi. Maybe something like xf86-video-armfbdev or xf86-video-fbturbo would work better for the unified optimized driver? Any othe...

Re: SSH on first startup

Ssh is run on startup on our standard Raspbian images. It will take slightly longer for the server to start up on the first boot as SSH host keys must be generated. It's probably worth running something like wireshark on your laptop and seeing if the Pi is generating traffic upon booting.

Edit: Turns out this is most likely the implementation of memcmp, which is not on github. I tried to add some debug to the illegal instruction handler, and noticed that when libcofi_rpi is running, then an extra instruction gets added to the list: 0xF1010200, which is setend trying to set big endia...

This looks fantastic. I'll have to give it a go with The Incredible Machine and Theme Park. Out of interest, could you tell me more about the techniques you're using in your family of emulators? Are you using any form of dynarec or just an interpreter? What portion is hand-tuned assembler vs C?
