Re: Omxplayer for Raspbian

I've updated the omxplayer package in our repo (thanks SKG). Please update (apt-get update && apt-get install omxplayer should do the trick) and let me know if things are better now.

Re: MATE for Raspbian

My image build scripts, spindle are designed to make it easy to generate multiple outputs with different customisation but the same base config. I'd be happy to take a look at spitting out a MATE image this weekend, which you could evaluate as a more maintainable way of producing these images. That...

Re: Cant find videoplayer on preloaded rasp card...argghhh

If you ordered a card from RS/Farnell, I'd recommend updating it to the Raspbian "wheezy" here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads Does the RPF have any input/suggestions/feedback to RS or Farnell as to what OS image they "should" be supplying on the pre-installed SD cards they sell, or will they...

Re: New repository component for bleeding-edge firmware

Dom pushed out a new firmware build, and I've updated the debs (automating this is still on the todo list...). We've updated the kernel defconfig so it hopefully now has all outstanding requests for modules enabled. See https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/commit/f958199774d8a52e1262089b6469e56cc6b...

Re: New repository component for bleeding-edge firmware

Probably another daft question, but does raspberrypi-firmware package contain kernel file & modules too? if so, and I want to keep my own kernel (custom,) presumably I need to replace it following an upgrade? Yes, it's all bundled in the raspberrypi-bootloader package. I forget if there's a config....

Presumably Pisces images are effectively obsolete now that the official Raspbian image is available - might be an idea to reflect this on the Raspbian site. @Mike: It's likely that you're involved in many other things but is MATE finding any time in your busy life? Perhaps an update, if only to ref...

Hi Guys just been looking at /etc/ssh and the "ssh_host_dsa_key*" files both pub and private are dated July 15 as the ecdsa and rsa are dated july 24 (when I did first boot of image). this suggests to me we (you) are shipping an image were everyone has the same dsa key both pub and secret, this sou...

Stable firmware is in the 'main' component, which is in your default sources.list on the foundation Raspbian image.

Re: Packages from debian you want to see in raspbian reposit

Determine what is available in Debian wheezy or sid by searching on: http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages

Edit from plugwash: if you are going to use that site make sure you select testing (for wheezy) or unstable (for sid) not stable (which will give you info on whether a package is in squeeze)

I've pushed out a build with CONFIG_SPI_SPIDEV enabled. You can get it from rpi-update (or probably the new bleeding edge firmware repo). Let me know if SPI is now good. Yes, it includes that: https://github.com/asb/firmware/commits/debian See http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=...

New repository component for bleeding-edge firmware

I've added a new component to the archive.raspberrypi.org debian repository which contains a bleeding edge build of the latest firmware. As on 22nd July, I have not yet automated the generation of these packages but will do so shortly. Beware: these firmware releases are lightly tested and could lea...
