This https://thepihut.com/products/raspberry ... -convertor works well for me, I doubt you can get an HDMI/DVI monitor cheaper than £8.

Re: Got a question rapsberry hdmi vs rca connectors

As posted, composite video is not going to look good with any modern computers (modern as in mid 80's+). It will be best to use HDMI->HDMI or failing that use a HDMI->VGA convertor. Make sure it is a convertor not simply an adapter. Another thing to consider is running headless, if you have a laptop...

My condolences on your loss David, I lost my mother Xmas day 10 years ago (Never really celebrated it since).

Depending on the size of enclosure, have you absolutely ruled out using extension cables?

Better and safer for your Pi if you make your own rather than mess with the motherboard.

Slightly belated greetings from me. My friends daughter is enjoying playing with her new Pi3 though she says it's weird because it's so small, I explained it was a real computer and she understands that, it's still weird though :D I wonder what she'll think about the Zero she gets on her birthday? :D

Reading your posts Heater I know you are security conscious, and do you think those usernames are still valid?

I was only trying to raise interest of the importance of online security (which affects us all).

For others strong passwords are also essential.

We all know (or we should) that when connected to the internet you should change usernames and passwords, what usernames are you using?

My Pi1B is Loganberry
My Pi Zero is Tart

My laptop died this morning...

So I tried using my Pi, it also was dead, I'm thinking WT*, 2 of my 4 computers die shortly before Christmas. How unlucky am I? I have a wee pain in the backside (my dog Connar), who decided to trip over the strip extension causing it to be unplugged from the mains. Two lessons, always look for the ...

I believe you can market the Pi any way you wish (subject to FCC & RED) restrictions.

EDIT: Any product containing a Pi will require it's own license.

Killed my first Pi1 by pressing the SD card while inserting it into a case. Snapped the the plastic rail off. I haven't fried one yet. Exactly the same thing happened to me, day 1 I have my Pi B & case, Day 1 I broke my Pi, those pesky SD slots, thankfully I fixed it with some superglue and a cut u...

They're robust little critters and amazingly all my Pi's are still alive (even the model B) though I have tortured them.

I'm just curious, have you killed a Pi and if so how did you manage it?

I'm approaching 50 and have 5 pi's (3 3b's 1 Zero and 1 B), I've bought others for kids and they are enjoying the experience of Pi. Yes, I am older but the Pi brought back memory of electronics, learning is not simply based on age. Whether you are 5..10..50..100 years old you are never too young to ...

Re: Micro SD help please!

Older models take an SD card, pretty sure it won't be an issue for you. (EDIT: just re-read your post, All Pi 3b's use micro SD cards) As ukscone posted it's best for compatibility with other devices to have a SD adapter, and chances are you'll get one with the micro card. The store where I buy my c...

Raspbian comes with a range of programming languages and other can be installed (many for free). You need an OS, end of story. The link I provided shows you how to install retro Pi alongside Rasbian (the OS) from scratch. There is nothing to stop you from using multiple cards for various OS's. Just be sure to shutdown first, swap cards and boot up. Everything your pi knows is on the card it boo...
