But be aware of the security implications, whatever you can do others can as well.

Yep, I see the same,

Code: Select all

 [code] &

Re: Latest Pi3 and Raspbian - Wow!

I really came here to say "Thank You!" to all of you. You're still amazing me. Yep, RPF have done an amazing job over just a very few years (12 Million+ sales and climbing), I also would like to thank Eben, Liz, all employees, volunteers and of course the Pi community here. Now let's catch that C64...

Re: Some kind of HDMI problem with raspberry pi

What is implied here is that a Python game can change the video format sent over HDMI to the monitor/tv such that it is no longer understood by said monitor/tv. How is that even possible? ... just enough of a glitch to throw the TV into reporting the signal as unsupported... It's even possible that...

Fair enough, I postponed the web site design due your lack of reply but since you're obviously still interested I'll proceed, expect a PM in a couple of days.

Regarding programming it's often the case that once you understand 1 language picking up another is fairly easy (old Z80, 6502 coder here ;))

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Beginner and a few questions.

Haha not a good idea to be in trouble with the mrs ;) I've found a special addition flirc case. What do you use your raspberry pie for? Check this out. https://flirc.tv/more/raspberry-pi-case-ke First it's a Pi not a Pie. Generally I use my Pi's for email/web/internet usage but I'm now thinking of ...

Re: How do I access a folder on root of card

It is not hidden. Is is simply not mounted by default. That is documented as being by design to preserve the integrity of the 'bootable' part of the NOOBS Installer. Which could be considered by some (including myself) as a hidden partition, yes/no? First. Because I consider it to be A Bad Idea to ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Beginner and a few questions.

Haha. I like the case I linked although it is priced a lot but that doesn't stop me ;) are you getting the case I linked? I do like the flirc case you linked also. Costs aren't that much different, The Flirc keeps the Pi cool and as far as I can tell does not interfere to a great extent with BT or ...

OP used quotes around the error message indicating that the error was verbatim, we all know it isn't but to assert that was/is the issue then more details are required.

Re: How do I access a folder on root of card

No. Not if, as in this case, the OS was installed with the NOOBS Installer. Ok, never used NOOBS so where is the folder? Edit: Just playing B.Goode, my apologies. I was serious about never using NOOBS before and perhaps it would help the OP and others if you could help with mounting that hidden par...

Thanks for the links VoilentDragon, my baby is getting a new home. Currently using the Flirc case (http://cpc.farnell.com/flirc/101219/case-flirc-black-silver-model/dp/SC13879?CMP=CPC-PLA) the only issue with this is though access to the GPIOs is possible it's not easy, your Gorilla Pi case is perfe...

Re: Thinking about replacing linux box with Rpi

I was unaware of that. Given their nature, I would have expected them have a longer life than, at least mechanical drives.... None the less, I see this as a con. Don't see it as a con, others have posted why they fail (user error) and why they may not last as long as mechanical drives but as you yo...

Re: Thinking about replacing linux box with Rpi

The only disadvantage I can see is the SD card, their lifespan can be shorter than other storage media.

I will stand corrected when other more experienced Pi users express their views.

Short answer, get a powered hub, you're gonna need it.

Edit: Run your Pi from your current PSU, but the USB Hub will also need it's own power supply.

Re: Class room testing, don't know where to start

OK, where are we... If this is a fixed class then give each student a username and password, if the classes change then things can get difficult (cheating) and would mean more work for you to correlate the results. BTW Read this link, I prefer Pascal but any language can be used (I did mention secur...

Re: Class room testing, don't know where to start

I got to the point of the Apache "it works" page so far. Good, now you need to design your (intra) web site, unfortunately you will have to do the hard work here, I can assist with specific queries (eg Logging user inputs) but actual design and functionality is entirely up to you. Hint: Keep links ...
