FWIW I just burn my images with etcher. I avoid NOOBS like the plague. If you want a choice of operating systems then uSD cards are cheap enough give each OS their own card.

With etcher there's no need to format the card, you don't even need to unzip the OS image you're burning.

Probably unrelated but possibly so I'll throw it out there... Using Firefox ESR on a Pi 4b/4gb watching BBC iPlayer and after an hour or so FF crashes. For any visitors from Qo'noS don't be worried Earth is virtually Tribble free (be aware of the rats though). You should also be aware of the dominant species who can be quite vicious and very devious.

Others have said Earth is "mostly harmless"

IMHO... Out of the various Pi's I've owned (zero's to 3b+'s) none of them needed active cooling. One of my 3b+ is in an argon one case which has both active (fan) and passive (case) and I can't recall the fan being activated at all. The 4b I have (again IMHO) does need active cooling and I am awaiti...

My Pi 4b/4 idles* at around 57 C, with the fan shim attached it's around 36 C.

No case and running 1080p HDMI with only SD card, wireless keyboard & mouse. Nothing else attached.

*idling with desktop and 1 terminal window open. Ambient temp around 20 C.

Buster from scratch in place upgrades can be dodgy. Fresh install is a lot more reliable.

Been running my Pi 4b/4 from a sandisk ultra a1 128 Gb card from day one (before that one of my 3b+'s made use of it).

No issues at all.

IMHO, Something was tampered with between leaving the manufacturer and reaching the customer.

That would be a question to ask ADA Fruit. It certainly does not qualify as a "Raspberry pi question".

To be fair it was highlighted on the ordering page that delivery may be delayed due to excessive demand.

I normally receive delivery next day but in this case was prepared to wait a week or so, I extra day meh.

By all means buy a Pi if you have an interest in computing/programming/electronics, but may I ask? What's wrong with your current setup?
