http://myserver.net/appache/ gets forwarded to Apache
http://myserver.net/myService/... gets forwarded to whatever other server
Why not subdomains? www1.myserver.net, www2.myserver.net, etc.

Ah, found it.
Here's the copy/paste:

Sandisk 8GB Industrial MLC MicroSD SDHC UHS-I Class 10 SDSDQAF-008G Bulk Pack (10 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BLJR12N/re ... TAbQJFJMCF
Usually industrial SD cards are SLC, not MLC. And $85 can be the price for 1 card, not 10.

Re: When will Raspberry Foundation admit that the Pi destroys your SD cards?

I have not read all comments and assume it is already mentioned. Is there swapfile on the broken SD card(s)?

It will be good to analyze the problem with SMART-capable SD card like this.

Re: Failing USB hard drive

I can hear the drive trying to do seeks or power up, I'm not sure what. I had similar "problem" with an external HDD - infinite recalibration on power on. The reason was insufficient power. The HDD had 2 USB ports (Y-cable) but I had connected only one of them. When connected the second, it worked ...

Re: Secure online banking

The idea for dedicated device for bank operations is good. I think the read-only SD card is not necessary. It can be with normal R/W access. The browser or DNS resolver can be limited to open only bank domain.

First a disclaimer - always be legal! You may need to check what the law says about recording calls. It sounds like you should be okay with what you are planning, but even if recording your own calls you may have a legal obligation to warn others when you are recording the calls. I have voice recor...

Re: SanDisk - Will not RMA SDcards used in bootable devices.

As a side, register any Samsung cards as soon as you get them, they will not warranty (past the retailer's warranty as they are not involved) if not registered. They also have a similar 'write intensive' policy on their EVO PLUS cards (from website details and easy to find) The EVO/EVO+EVO Pro only...

Re: SanDisk - Will not RMA SDcards used in bootable devices.

Basically if you actually use the thing to write and read data you void the warranty Yep, looks like your spot on. What annoys me is the fact their reason for denying RMA is because its being used in a "bootable" device. One could even say: - my PC is a bootable device. - my Android phone is a boot...

HDMI hot plug

I know that HDMI is designed for hot plug but manuals for many TV or other devices recommend to attach/detach it when device is switched off. Is there a risk for RPi or the display on the other end if HDMI connector is hot plugged/unplugged?

I don't think you got what he is asking for: He wants the Foundation to help end users (at least him) with buying industrial grade SD cards which are not available for normal end users. I think industrial SD cards can be bought by every end user. Not tried but this link seems valid and offers price...

Pi is good and I don't think it is useless. But it is far from the reality to compare today's desktop with Pi for web browsing or office needs. Pi can do the job in many cases but the speed and comfort cannot be compared.

I'm already asking myself why I spend a grand to build a desktop system that so far seems no faster than the PI doing normal daily things like internet etc. Have you used web browser for more than 10 minutes on Pi and on desktop system for a "grand"? Maybe your local internet is very slow and you d...

Re: SD cards - the Pi's greatest weakness

So maybe some capacitor on SD power pin would be enough to prevent damage of the card even when power plug is pulled in the middle of the write? Of course the filesystem would need check and fix but the card would not be damaged if it had a second to finish the write. Typically such capacitor shoul...

Re: SD cards - the Pi's greatest weakness

It all works, reading, writing, you can overwrite card via dd with zeroes and it will happily do it for you without reporting any error. But all those writes go nowhere. When you read it back you get old data. In this "mode" the SD card reports write-protect error on block writes (tested). But it s...

Re: SD cards - the Pi's greatest weakness

Note, 17M sold so far, and the failure rate of SD cards, as seen on the forums, is not huge. So I suggest it is actually quite rare. Compare these 17M sold Pi-s with the number of users of this forum. It is extremely clear that many SD failures are not reported here. One simple reason for SD issue ...
