More Current from a l293d

So I have built a bot using a Pi3 and Lego. I was using low voltage motors that when on load would not move. (would move fine when there was no load) I've since upgraded the motors to 9V and run on there own power supply (6 AA battery's) The bot runs now under its own load but still runs very slowly...

Re: l253d is inefficent. Whats the best way to replace it?

When I ment what moters to replace them with I ment Lego moters I know there's a lot of different ones now and that they are used with robotics. That's a lot of infomation to take in so thank you but it's a bit too much to process I'm allready getting stressed out as it is with all the research, tim...

Re: l253d is inefficent. Whats the best way to replace it?

Ok so I tryed a 9v batterey (with out the motor driver chip) and the treads did not even move So I'm guessing the motors are a peace of crap. Any idears on what I should replace them with? Edit and now I broke the casing trying to find a model number of the motor. So now I am going to need to buy al...

put weight on the bot, use a current sensor, send measurements over wifi
What is a current sensor? Like a voltmeater? How do. I send that over wifi?

Re: l253d is inefficent. Whats the best way to replace it?

You want to put 5V only on the Pi. Motors are different, you can go much higher. Low voltage motors draw more current for the same power. 300ma no load is quite high for a motor. Sound like it is a low voltage toy motor. 5V battery bricks are actually 3.7V lithium batteries with a step up voltage c...

Re: l253d is inefficent. Whats the best way to replace it?

It is not the L293D that is a problem. It is how you are powering the motors. 1) 300-400mA free running (no load) current is a useless measurement, you need to measure it under load. Assume it will be 600mA-1A 2) DO NOT try to power the motors/L293D from 5V. Use a separate battery pack, I suggest 4...

Re: l253d is inefficent. Whats the best way to replace it?

What motors are you using? If they're only drawing 300mA, they don't sound that powerful. What is their torque rating? You say the powerbank is the heaviest part of the setup; how much does the chassis weigh? Lego is actually a lot heavier that you would think. I'm using a Lego motor set. It's from...

Gavinmc42 wrote:You could try stacking and soldering another I253D on top.
Or swap to a SN754410 which is an improved version.
What do you mean by stacking? Wouldn't that drain more power?

I'll take a look into sn754410

l253d is inefficent. Whats the best way to replace it?

So I am building a robot with my pi. Its quite basic at the moment. It currently has a 10,000 ma/h power bank with duel 2.5A USB ports one powers the pi and the other goes to a YwRobot bread board power supply. The chassy is made out of Lego with two motors both using 300-400 ma each to run at full ...

Re: Power distabution problem

You don't seem to understand basic electricity. When you wire n different loads to a supply that can provide A amps each load does NOT get A/n amps. Loads try to take the current they require. Something like a low current servo will take less current than a high current motor. Just the same as with...

Power distabution problem

so I'm building a bot with my raspberry Pi it's earley stages and I have run into a issue. This issue is power distribution. After some testing of my bot I have worked out that my Pi can spare 1.4 amps of power while plugged into my power bank (this is not counting the the posable 1.2-2.2 boost I co...

Power interfacing question

If I have a breadboard power supply do I need to use the power pins on the pi? So for example say I had a sonic sencer on my breadboard that was powered by a breadboard power supply. If I have the eco pin connected to a gpio pin on the pi (using a voltage divider of coarse) do I have to complete the...
