M$ should maybe do a Windows RT for the Pi2 and let everyone find out what a crock of s**t that was.

Have you tried a 'raw' Raspbian with it ? The latest may just have the drivers built in anyway.

Re: REALLY stuck

It won't work if you type in capitals. If its a propitiatory image, theres no guarantee any standard Raspbian stuff will work. It may have started life as Raspbian but god knows what has happened to it since. If you did update it, it might kill the display anyway. No clues as to the original 'manufa...

We spend enough time licking the **** of the Americans. I work in the IT industry and I manage to buy all my stuff in £s.

Sorry, I'm a grumpy old sod today and I was never endeared to the Yanks at the best of times.

I've been running this Pi : http://pluggy.duckdns.org/ For the better part of 3 years with just plain old Raspbian on an SD card with no tricks whatever. I'd only have ever had one corrupted SD card on any of my Pis and that was due to a power brownout. Dunno what the secret is but I only ever use C...

Somebody want to stick 'The Pi does not run Windows 10' in big letters across the top of every page in this forum.

In an ideal world it would never have been said in the first place.

Re: REALLY stuck

Since the Pi doesn't have a 3.2 inch display, at the very least a clue to where you got it from would help. Asking those who supplied it would probably be a better idea than posting here. A lot of these things have propitiatory drivers built into their images and nobody here could help anyway.

Phyically swap all the bits from one Pi board to the other and see if the problem follows the Pi or the bits....

VNC <> SSH.

Two unrelated technologies as far as I'm concerned.

You can use them together but VNC is nothing to do with SSH

Re: Power consumption of Pi plus peripherals

Assuming Toronto is something akin to Northern England for day length and weather, and your panel is fixed (not tracking the sun) it will just about keep up with a 200 mA permanent load at 5v at this time of year. If you expect it to run year round you'll need one around 10 times the size in January...

+1
It does pretty well for what it costs, but theres a reason it costs what it does and it isn't anything to do with conspiracy theories or the Foundations desire to sell something for less than it costs to make.

Re: How to synchronize multiple video displays?

Playing 4 entirely seperate video streams at a convincing resolution and framerate is outside the capablilites of an embedded system IMO. Playing a single video stream that is chopped up by seperate hardware and displayed on 4 displays would probably work but thats outside what I know. In my world, ...

Re: How to synchronize multiple video displays?

X86 PC (i5 or better would be nice) with multiple video cards. Ubuntu as a preference for an OS but that Redmond OS would suffice. Significantly more expensive than a Pi..... If you want to show exactly the same on 4 displays anything with a video splitter would work, it wouldn't do the XY segment t...

Installing the necessary software to get it working in the first place is an order of magnitude easier with an internet connection, but you don't need one to record videos to file once you got it going.

I am using a 10 port USB hub and the Pi is powered by a regular Kindle charger that has worked great for the past 2 years. It's been said umpteen times here that chargers are not power supplies, and shouldn't be used as such (having said that, my "official" Pi PSU is now basically a phone charger a...

If it were me, and I'm the first to admit I'm a heretic, I'd look to something with a bit more grunt than a Pi. The pi is a cheap computer, it has limitations. If he's using key only access and leaving port 22 open and no other tricks, nobody is going to get inside in less than geological time anyway assuming the private key isn't published. Changing the port as well probably extends that to for ever and a day. Guessing passwords doesn't enter into the equ...

Doing it another way, my trusty power meter gives my running Pi2 with wifi adaptor and usb keyboard at 0.28 A, it drops to 0.06 A (aka 60mA or 300mW) when shut down but still powered. There just isn't enough power to get anything much above ambiant.
