Re: Enable a Bluetooth Speaker on startup (latest Raspbian)

I haven't played with a Bluetooth speaker much, but my understanding is that if a speaker is connected, PulseAudio will start using it for audio. So the trick is to connect it at boot time. Should be able to use the same trick some folks use with keyboards. Put this in your cron tab: @reboot sleep ...

Re: Enable a Bluetooth Speaker on startup (latest Raspbian)

That doesn't seem to select Bluetooth.

Its probably a misunderstanding on my part, I would like to connect to my Bluetooth speaker over Bluetooth.

Re: Enable a Bluetooth Speaker on startup (latest Raspbian)

Are you referring to amixer cset numid=3 x?.

I tried various numbers for x above 2 (HDMI) but amixer doesn't seem to accept them and the Audio output doesn't change to Bluetooth.

Enable a Bluetooth Speaker on startup (latest Raspbian)

Does anyone know how to enable a Bluetooth speaker automatically on starting a Pi 3 using the latest version of Raspbian?. I can select my Bluetooth speaker with the mouse using the audio function on the taskbar but I would like to run a Pi 3 headless taking info in via the GPIO and playing an appro...

Re: C++ slower than Python for OpenCV !

I'm surprised as well (I'm using Pi3, OpenCV 3, Pi Camera V2, GCC (11?)). You didn't mention the driver for the camera - I'm using Picamera 0.1.3 C++ API. Swapping from Python to C++ speeded up my program (detecting lots of small white squares). You mentioned the C++ version of your program - did yo...

Re: Python and Opencv

I think so. I've only had to use boundingRect to find the coordinates of a square aligned east-west so I haven't used cv.moments.

Re: Python and Opencv

I think there are functions in OpenCV to find the centre of a contour.

That can be added where you have print "triangle".

Once the downloaded folder has been located:

where it says xx replace with 0.1.3

Hopefully that should sort it.

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Getting Hot

I did some calcs before buying a fan for my Pi3 with SoC heatsink which indicated that the 40mm fan I ordered as a quick fix had more than enough throughput. I worked out the power consumed by the SoC by multiplying 3.3 volts by the current quoted in stress benchmarks (checked with measurements of m...

Using Raspicam_Cv in a C++ thread

Hello, I'm working on an image recognition system for my model railway hidden sidings. I've put the main image recognition routines into threads but I've not been able to get the Raspicam_Cv grab and retrieve functions to work in a separate thread in parallel with the image recognition of the previo...

Re: Using RPi.GPIO with Jython

Have you tried the PI4J library (http://pi4j.com/)? - I know nothing more about it than it can access the PI's GPIO pins. Just a thought - a long way round the problem might be to use the newer versions of JMRI (Java Model Railway Interface) which will interface to PI GPIO pins (probably just simple...

Don't forget the effects of inertia of the mechanical parts of the system limits the maximum speed its worth toggling the stepper coils at.

Re: PI cam view wider since update?

Dear 6 by 9, Yes I probably hadn't updated Raspbian for a while, and I was using 1024 by 640 or 1280 by 960 (for high speed image recognition). I've noticed that since the update and the colour fix-up the contrast control of the camera appears to have changed when using raspicam_cv (Raspicam 0.1.3 A...

PI cam view wider since update?

On Sunday I upgraded using apt-get to the latest version of Raspbian. Now the angle of view from my Pi Camera NOIR V2 when using raspistill, raspivid and G C++/OPENCV 3.0/OPENMP/raspicam_cv (part of the raspicam C++ API 0.1.3) appears to be wider than before. The hardware (V2 cam + Pi 3 B) has not b...

Re: Picamera_cv colours wrong after update/upgrade

Dear 6by9,

My program is working fine now (didn't realise GitHub version placed raspicam-0.1.3 in a different directory to where I had the original).

Colours are all fine.

Many, many thanks.

Re: Picamera_cv colours wrong after update/upgrade

Dear 6by9.

I did git clone https://github.com/6by9/raspicam-0.1.3.git and then built raspicam_cv-0.1.3

but after recompiling my G C++/OPENCV 3.0 /OPENMP/raspicam_cv-0.1.3 program the colours were still swapped.

I was using https://sourceforge.net/projects/raspicam/ - I think (Sourceforge still down). When Sourceforge comes back on I will gratefully try your fix-up.

Apologies but I'm new to reading the runes on Raspberry Pi hardware but here goes: The photo from the Pi Hut show three levels of boxes arranged in a pyramid. There were three people presenting the Pi Hut video that mentions new stocks of Pi Zeros saying they couldn't say what the new feature was. E...
