Re: Runaway cat

I have pi with a RPi camera trained on the cat flap, when the python software detects movement [ by looking at the difference between pictures] it saves the picture. This way if one of the cats has not been seen for a while we at least know when it was last in and if it has visited while we were out...

Re: using Tweepy to 'receive' pictures

I have just loaded the original code onto a Rpi and checked it and it worked fine. If you are getting the onscreen message that the application has captured a tweet with an attached jpg then then is sounds like there is an issue with Pygame. The Rpi I used is running the latest NOOBS image recently ...

Try http://andypi.co.uk/?p=351 - there is an artical in I think issue 19 or Magpi magazine on this or https://learn.adafruit.com/character-lcd-with-raspberry-pi-or-beaglebone-black/wiring note both of these were written for earlier Pi models with the 26 connector but this is not an issue as the firs...

Ok so I have come back to try this again, following the instructions on the previous post I seem to have the camera pi setup ok [well I did not get any errors but there is not clue that anything is actually a happening] But on the receiving pi I get the following 'bash: ./hello_video.bin: Permission...

Re: 433Mhz RC Outlets known to work with rcswitch-pi

Good progress yesterday, I got to grips with relating the one and zeros to the message - the comment text in rcswitch.cpp was invaluable here as it even includes basic graphics to help. I finally managed to get rcswitch working with the Maplin Outlet [part n78ka] having realised that the 'send' code...

Success have just managed to get a RC outlet from Maplin http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/remote-controlled-mains-socket-set-single-n78ka to switch on and off Ok, so I relented yesterday and spent some time refining my sample process so I could more clearly compare the bit patterns generated by the remote ...

Re: 433Mhz RC Outlets known to work with rcswitch-pi

I do take your point that I could look at modifying to code. That said this is part of a wider project and I want to try to use as near as possible an 'off the shelf solution' simply as a proof of concept - my main focus being on other elements of the software / hardware development. There is also t...

433Mhz RC Outlets known to work with rcswitch-pi

Can anyone provide me with a 433Mhz RC outlet currently available from a UK source that they have working with rcswitch-pi. I have been trying to get it working with some old Maplin ones I have which use the PT2262 chip set which should I think be compatible but I cannot get them to work. Comparing ...

Re: using Tweepy to 'receive' pictures

Ok so I can get to point where I have captured the tweet but I am struggling with how separate out the ulr - clearly I want to grab 'media_url_https' but I am not sure how ? I think the basic problem is a lack of understanding of string handling in Python print(status.entities) works fine but I am n...
