Re: Cooling the Pi3 with a fan.

I give you 5 min tops, before you hit the ceiling, slow to a crawl, and revert to 600MHz (Hell, you probably couldn't even manage to do it with 'Stress' (which is a lightweight contender compared to cpuburn)). C'mon, show me how wrong I am. I am waiting. No vid, sreenshot must suffic. cpuburn passi...

Re: Pi3 incorrect results under load (possibly heat related)

There hasn't been any updates on this thread for a while so I'm wondering whether the problem of incorrect answers was fixed and affected only a few Pi 3 units or whether the problem is widespread but most people don't have the interest to diagnose it using the linpack linear algebra solver. Any re...

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

I have just salvaged this from a Pentium 1 motherboard. I need some thermal tape before I can test: https://simonhowes.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/img_1224.jpg Before applying thermal tape, you need to cut one edge from the cooler, because the voltage smds are higher than the cpu, so the cooler is ...

I know this thread hijacking, but:
Instead of throwing more fish, could some of the knowledgable people have a look at the barely noticed Mathematica forum viewtopic.php?f=94&t=131051 where we are trying to sort out why Mathematica crashes every RDP session?

Re: RegularPolygon in Mathematica

Did you have internet connection while trying this? Because when I tried

Code: Select all

Graphics[RegularPolygon[5]]
I had a notification window popping up: "Updating from Wolfram Research Center xx%" and when the counter reached 100%: voilà, the pentagon showed up!

Re: 2 Question about mounting a Pi...

You should test it with and without a case running InSSIDer (3 (freebie version) or 4 (pro version) or InSSIDer for Android (£6 version)) on a client machine or tablet and see how badly the signal strength drops. For Android I`d like to recommend Wifi Analyzer (free) as InSSIDer replacement and Fin...

Re: PlotPoints does NOT work

PlotPoints does work, you just do not see it in your example beacuse 15 and 60 are both high numbers. Draw it with 2 or 3 or 4 and you will see the difference.

font or graphics error in 3DPlots

The following happens to me with a clean install of NOOBs or Jessie, and also after upgrading to the latest 4.4 Kernel. To see it, let`s open Mathematica and draw a ball: SphericalPlot3D[1, {\[Theta], 0, Pi}, {\[Phi], 0, 2 Pi}] Do you see the axes labeling with numbers? Or just pixel-blobs? If you s...

Re: Mathematica start-up crashing RDP session

No update with the original problem, but I can report a working alternative. Just install tightvnc (together with autocutsel if you want clipboard exchange) and use your prefered VNC viewer on the client side. On Windows I use the portable Version of MobaXterm because it also contains SSH, SFTP, X11...

Here's the config.txt # Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835) dtparam=audio=on dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d gpu_mem=64 hdmi_force_hotplug=1 disable_overscan=1 So you enabled the experimental OpenGL driver. But the OpenGL driver does not care about CEA and DMT settings in config.txt! (See https://www.raspberryp...

Re: Mathematica start-up crashing RDP session

Based on jpsa's findings above I placed a file .drirc in /home/pi with content <driconf> </driconf> That eliminated the "Can't open file" errors in the libGL log. Additionally calling mathematica as root LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose sudo mathematica >m.txt 2>&1 also eliminated the first 2 lines from the log ...

Screen Saver -> Screen OFF instead of Screen black

Hi there, running my new Pi3 I noticed that when the screen saver kicks in, it displays black pixels instead of swiching off the screen. While I do not care about the 1 or 2 watts the pi3 draws when idle, I do care about the 70 watts my screen draws when displaying black pixels. After an intensive s...
