http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb335/cructacean/h3.png For those who can not bother reading the release notes . . . here is an alpha 2 based promo video instead ;) http://youtu.be/MR5OZUWKbqw You might say it is an alpha video. Created on Puppi Sap Alpha2. I am looking forward to alpha 3 and r...
Guys Do test and provide feedback on the murga Puppy Linux forum. We also have Puppy's (Puppy users) using QEMU - supporting Puppy without Rpi hardware What will alpha3/Beta1 be like? BarryK is planning - The image ISO created will be more reliable - PPM improvements - Gparted working (partitioning)...
I think he is trying to get away from having to enter a login, password, and entering commands (i.e. startx) to load the operating system. Puppi SAP (currently in Alpha 2) goes straight to desktop - no log in http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Puppi Guys we need this Android potential. Imagine being able ...
This from Barrys instructions which will decompress and install the image file This image file requires a 4GB SDHC card. Class 6 or higher is recommended. Cheaper cards that may be somewhat less than 4GB, although labeled as 4GB, should also be ok. For the example of the card being /dev/sdb (be very...
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5wqshqWDl1rr9loao1_500.jpg Guys Added a Puppi wallpaper. Screenshot above. Use Mtpaint 'actions' for delayed screenshot. It is the little things that make me happy . . . Have updated the Puppi wiki with some of your info http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Puppi My attemp...
http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb335/cructacean/logo.png :) Thanks Liz. For those of us familiar with Puppy, this is where we really start. Everything else has been foreplay. 'Sap6' is what Barry is calling his pre alpha. He used Gentoo and then Debian binaries to bootstrap. In place is a boot...
You really need to be using a powered hub.
I find using two USB ports (usually mouse and USB keydrive) is the limit.
So in effect going above 3 USB ports (by adding an unpowered hub) is not possible. For me the error was keyboard auto repeat.
Chromium browser is faster and more reliable than Midori at the present time (on the Debian build)
On the Arch side Netsurf is faster still. Text browsers are not really feasible for most users . . .
DIY versions will start to mature in June 2012 eg. Puppi Arch http://puppylinux.org/wikka/PuppiArch The first alpha releases will be available July/August 2012 Mark (Antiloquax) is expecting his real Rpi hardware any day now and has a Qemu Puppi Arch that can be transitioned . . . For Christmas/Holi...
Vala and Genie are remarkable languages. Vala itself is similar to C# and Genie is similar to Basic or Python. I think of the language as compiled Python . . . Two languages for the price of one. The price = $0 incidentally I would provide links but forum rules are too restrictive - previous posts h...
Guys, Fellow Puppys, I am pleased to report that progress is happening on Puppi (Puppy on the Rpi). Our least skillful developer (I use the word developer in the loosest sense of the word) continues to promote those with real skills. Puppy users, Mark and now Tman are both using and suggesting Arch ...

<t>OK fellow raspberrians, many thanks<br/> <br/> I plugged an old keyboard directly into one of the ports<br/> <br/> (apparently the number keys don't work on it but that is another issue - I have more keyboards)<br/> <br/> The hub hosts a mouse and USB keydrive<br/> <br/> This unpowered hub set up...
<t>ahhhh . . . (so to speak) mahjongg many thanks.<br/> <br/> Makes perfect sense<br/> <br/> The PSU is 5v and 1000mA - not enough eh?<br/> <br/> OK I have a ipad 3 power supply available<br/> <br/> it is rated at 5.1v and 2100mA<br/> <br/> Would it caramelize the raspberry hardware?<br/> <br/> If I...
<t>I am using the Squeeze Debian Linux. I have tried two keyboards. The auto-repeat comes on intermittently. What could be causing this? I get things like:<br/> suuuuuuuuuuuuuu appearing on screen.<br/> It is making typing practically impossible. Should I try another USB hub? Plug the keyboard direc...
<t>Success!<br/> <br/> Some interesting lessons.<br/> We used a class 4 Verbatim 4Gig SD card from a local games shop and a USB charger from 'Wilkinson'.<br/> <br/> We wrote the image using Puppy Linux and failed to boot.<br/> <br/> It is possible the SD card needs formatting before writing and this...
<t>thanks asb<br/> <br/> It is half the price at Amazon<br/> Argos open at 11AM<br/> <br/> May have to pay the higher price, just to be a Raspberrian.<br/> <br/> The system calls to SD will not be so much of an issue with Puppy Linux as it resides and runs from memory - not from SD or other media. F...
<t>It doesn't start to flicker guys. I am confident that I followed the installation procedure correctly.<br/> <br/> . . . but I will do it again . . . most likely the cards are too low quality for the job.<br/> <br/> From what remember I obtained the card from a computer fair or in this case unfair...
<t>1) Which distro are you using?<br/> <br/> I tried Debian and Fedora<br/> <br/> 2) Did you DD the .img file over or did you just copy/past the .img onto the SD card?<br/> <br/> From what I remember I followed the procedure carefully and used DD<br/> <br/> Brands - the Debian is unbranded and says ...
