Sounds good, just some comments before you start coding. Peppy is a free and open-source project distributed under GPL v3 license: https://github.com/project-owner/Peppy/blob/master/LICENSE You have to agree that your code will be distributed under this license. Re: Peppy player

Hi, You have pretty advanced setup and your new planned features look very interesting. If you are experienced developer and if you could implement those features it would be very good addition to the player. In order to start working on code you need to create a Github account if you don't have it ...

Re: Noob question about power...

Hi, You need to answer the following questions: - How many voltages do you need? Do you need only the single +5V or you also need +12V or any other voltage? - What is the power consumption of each component in your system? It's usually defined by the consumed current measured either in mA or A. Mult...

Re: Peppy player

MrGibbage, You correctly described the slideshow functionality. When the screensaver starts it loads all images from the defined folder into memory cache to eliminate disk I/O operations. I did not make any load testing. So it's hard to say how many images it can handle. It depends on your Pi model/...

Re: Peppy player

Hi MrGibbage, I've never tried to install 7" over 3.5". That's why I cannot guarantee that all that stuff installed by LCD-show can co-exist with 7" driver. My recommendation would be to use separate SD card for 3.5" and the other for 7" just in case you'll decide to go back. Another recommendation ...

Re: Peppy player

Hi MrGibbage, The player handles m3u playlists itself. It reads the file and feeds filenames from that file to audio players (vlc etc) one by one. It doesn't handle directives which you can have in EXTM3U comments. So simple M3U is enough. I have a pretty long list of requirements for the next relea...

Re: Peppy player

Hi MrGibbage, As you mentioned that extra slash should not affect anything but I'll check from where it comes. You have really long playlist :) The player automatically plays the next track in the folder. That can eliminate the need in using playlist if it lists all files in the folder in alphabetic...

Re: Peppy player

Hi Koepisch, Your info will be useful during Bluetooth UI implementation. I hope to make it in the next release. It should simplify the connection process and eliminate all manual steps. It should be possible to get track info and cover art from raspotify. I just didn't implement that. I implemented...

Hi Koepisch, I think there can be one more configuration parameter for the Slideshow screensaver: sorted=True as sometimes I prefer random order I have fixed the wiki page about Bluetooth configuration (bluetoothctl connect): https://github.com/project-owner/Peppy.doc/wiki/Bluetooth-Devices Regardin...

Oops, late night changes... :( The file should be fetched from the github. So the commands should be:

Code: Select all

git checkout config.txt
git checkout current.txt
git pull
This time it should work. Sorry about that.

Re: Peppy player

OK, I have fixed the issue. You can get the fixed file by running the following command from the folder /home/pi/Peppy:

Code: Select all

git pull
It should fix the issue which you reported.
Thank you!

Re: Peppy player

Hi MrGibbage, Thank you for reporting the issue. I confirm that there is the problem with shutdown from a playlist. During the shutdown the player saves a song name instead of file name. For example for the file '01 - Eagle.flac' in the playlist the player will save 'Eagle' in file current.txt: [fil...

That did it. Back browsing again my files again. Thanks for the help! Great! Regarding folders with album art images, they can be displayed by the Slideshow screensaver which is the default screensaver. The folder names are defined in this property: https://github.com/project-owner/Peppy/blob/a25aa...

Re: Peppy player

More likely the configuration file which keeps the current player settings was screwed up at some stage. I'd recommend to refresh all configuration files to the original state by running the follow...

Re: Peppy player

Hmm, there is really no connection between CD-Player and Podcasts modes. Looks like a bug though I couldn't reproduce the issue. Here is the logic which disables the Podcasts option in the Home menu: https://github.com/project-owner/Peppy/blob/a25aaddc2b3a436be698e3fa6ad97b313a774fef/ui/menu/homemen...

Hi Koepisch,

Thank you for very good requirements! I'll take them into account for the next release.

BTW, long press on a folder in the Audio Files mode starts recursive playback of all files in that folder and sub-folders.

Starting to have an issue here. The UI freezes and I can't play anything. Steps to reproduce: Reboot (sudo reboot or pull the plug--it doesn't matter) Upon reboot the web UI works, ssh works, and all of the controls on the pi lcd work. No music is playing. But, if I tap on Audio Files from the home...

Re: Peppy player

Assuming that you have many images there is no need to save the filename in the config file. You can just pick the random file from the list: # Copyright 2019 PeppyMeter peppy.[email protected].com # # This file is part of PeppyMeter. # # PeppyMeter is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify...

Re: Peppy player

Sometimes LCD-show creates new /etc/rc.local file. The player starts from that file. Please make sure that it doesn't have the line: fbcp & If it does comment it out or delete. Re: Peppy player

It looks like the player didn't start properly. You can check if the python process is running using ssh session: ps -elf | grep python More likely it's not running.
