Re: Sonic pi

OK. I understand your point.
The reason I want each update with Sonic Pi, is because now Sonic crashes with Raspbian. I have to use kernel version 4.1 to use it. And with that kernel the experimental openGL driver doesn't work.

Re: Sonic pi

Jessie, not wheezy. Not sure which version of Sonic, just put Pi to bed.

Sonic Pi itself suggests me to update. But you tell me not to, so I guess I'll listen to you.

Did you update recently? There is a bug with Raspbian kernel 4.4 and Sonic Pi.

Re: Sonic Pi, fatal error on start-up

Thank you. I went to Sam Aarons Github place and learned there that it would be a problem with JACK. Wouldn't it be enough to downgrade the JACK packages? It feels a pitty to go to an older kernel version, I just used sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update to fix a problem with the OpenGL Driver I had. As I un...

Re: raspbian version

And what does sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update do? I used it because someone adviced it because the openGL driver wasn't working anymore. But what the difference between that and the normal sudo rpi-update? (Now I do sudo apt-get update , and then the sudo apt-get upgrade , but if I understand above well...

Re: Video memory unadjustable since update

Using

Code: Select all

sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update
made the openGL driver work again.
(I'm on kernel version 4.4.6-v7+ now)

Re: Video memory unadjustable since update

OK, thank you.

For the moment I have it set at 240 and the command line tells me the same.
I don't use the OpenGL anymore, no matter what setting I tried, it would give me a black screen.

Since Sonic Pi also crashes, I will try an older kernel version (4.4. seems to be the problem with Sonic).

Sonic Pi, fatal error on start-up

When I open Sonic Pi, it opens with an error. When I close the error, Sonic Pi quits. This are the details of two subsequent crashes: Detailed Error Report: GUI log ------- [GUI] - shutting down any old audio servers... Video memory unadjustable since update

After an update/upgrade recently, I can't use the openGL driver anymore. One thing I see is, even if I use Preferences > Raspberry Pi configuration > Performance (I'm not sure of the name of the tab, I have a Dutch version ) > Video Memory : 192 or something, it doesn't stick . After a reboot, it's ...

Re: Main Menu Editor doesn't update

Thank You TopherGopher.
There's nothing in /home/pi/.local/share/applications on my Pi.

I don't use the menu anymore, I make launcher icons in my bottom panel for the programs I use regularly. That way, I'm not annoyed anymore by the faulty updating of the main menu :-).

Re: Ubuntu Core Snappy on Raspberry Pi 3

I think at this point (having managed to get Arch through PINN last night) that makes it the only OS I have tried and been unable to get installed for my Pi. I don't know what "getting Arch through PINN" means, but I copied NOOBS to a formatted SD card and Raspbian worked. The non-NOOBS images don'...

Do some reading about over-clocking (will answer most of your questions). My intent is to be nice here, so please take this in the spirit intended, the questions you are asking means you shouldn't be screwing around with this until you do some research. Typically, you don't what your CPU screaming ...
