I tried uncommenting just hdmi safe 1 only as Mobius had suggested but was unsuccessful. I followed Doug's advice and also uncommented hotplug and that did the trick. My old monitor is now working. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I removed the case that came with the Vilros kit and now the power supply micro USB seems to seat itself better. I'm able to pick up the Pi and move it around without the power cutting out like it did before. Turned out to be any easy and free fix.

My pi 2 has the power go on and off if the case is moved in the slightest way. Is my power source bad? It's a Vilros kit I got from Amazon. Do I need to get a better power supply?
