Screen resolution issue: Pygame set_mode crashes pi

I've got a script which runs beautifully on my laptop. It's written for this screen . According to the manual (if you can call it that), the screen has a resolution of 480x234. However, when I run the script with that screen attached I just get a small rectangle in the middle of the screen. It looks...

Re: turning gpio buttons into keys

Hi Troyk,

Good to see you're getting some help on this forum too!

If you have any more xbmc questions, post back in the thread in that forum and I'll help if I can.

Re: Get artwork from music on Logitech Media Server

For anyone who's interested, the solution is remarkably easy as LMS provides http links to album art. By track id: http://<server>:<port>/music/<track_id>/cover.jpg Current playing track (by player): http://<server>:<port>/music/current/cover.jpg?player=<playerid> I got this from the command line in...

Get artwork from music on Logitech Media Server

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get the artwork for music that’s playing on a Logitech Media Server on my network? I can use PyLMS to get details of playing tracks etc but I can’t see any methods for getting the artwork. I assume this must be possible as programs like SqueezeCommander on Androi...

Re: [WIP] RPi Information Screen

Dan, Thanks for the comments. I've got plugins working as follows: Only main script has control of the screen for display purposes. This script uses the imp module to search for python files in the plugins folder. Each plugin must follow a specific template. The main script tries to create an instan...

[WIP] RPi Information Screen

EDIT: There is a new and improved version of the script for the official touch screen display. See this thread for more info. EDIT: Working version of code is here: https://github.com/elParaguayo/RPI-Info-Screen. I would strongly advise using git to maintain the copy of the script on your machine a...

Re: Can't figure out Play/Pause Button

why not just add a variable. #!/usr/bin/env python from time import sleep import os import RPi.GPIO as GPIO GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BCM) GPIO.setup(27, GPIO.IN) prev_input = 0; playing = False while True: input = GPIO.input(27) if ((not input) and prev_input): if not playing: os.system('mcp play') playing...

Re: Beginner's 5V power question

It strikes me that I'm way out of my depth and may be better sticking to the micro usb for the pi and a separate supply for LEDs (with the GND connection between pi and LEDs)!

Re: Beginner's 5V power question

Thanks rurwin, that's helpful.

OK, so if I did want to do it as per the Adafruit diagram, and power both the pi and LEDs from the 5v supply, is the advice generally to put a fuse between the power and the 5v pin? If so, what fuse would I need?

Re: Beginner's 5V power question

I'm also looking at hooking up some RGB LEDs. I've also seen that wiring diagram on the Adafruit website and hadn't made the connection that the power supply was also powering the pi. If I wanted to power the pi normally through the microusb and power the LEDs with a separate power supply, do I stil...

Just wanted to add that this is running beautifully for me with an IguanaIR transmitter/receiver on the RPi.

Thank you.

Re: Launch service at boot (with ability to respawn)

Thanks for this. If I put a link to the script in inittab, it doesn't seem to say anything about star or stop parameters. Does that mean that all the funky coding that I've found on Google for daemonising a python script isn't necessary? i.e. do I just modify the script so it starts automatically an...

Launch service at boot (with ability to respawn)

Hi there, I'm hoping somebody here can answer what, I hope, is a straightforward question (although google has not been my friend so far). I have a python script which has the ability to run as a service (by passing "start" and "stop" parameters). I'm looking to make this script start on boot, stop ...

Football score scraper

I bought a RPi because I wanted something that I could play my music through in a different room of the house. While Squeezeplug works fine, the audio quality was pretty bad so I've put that on hold for a while. What I'm now planning on using the box for is: Wake on Lan server to wake my MythTV back...
