jessie user/password

Hi, I have OS Jessie on my raspberry pi. when boots up, it won't ask me for user and PW. after I did "sudo get-apt update" then reboot. it ask me user & PW. I tried user: pi, PW: raspberry. it tell me incorrect.

I wonder why after update then ask user/PW, and what are they?

thanks

Hi, I tried to set my pi a static IP address.
but not success.
my OS setting is like

iface eth0 inet manual

it always assigned me same address. seems I already get the static IP address.

what does does "manual" means ?
