LAN ping issue

Hi, Friends, my LAN with RPi3(eth0 192.168.5.5), winPC(192.168.5.4) and a router(192.168.5.1) they could ping each other without issue. now I have another RPi 4, connect usb C to RPi 3 , then they got usb0 interface. set them static ip address. so RPi4 ( usb0, 192.168.5.100 ) could ping RPi3(usb0, 1...

Re: RPi 4 access another subnet in LAN

You should enableICS "Internet connection sharing" on the PC after you remove the two new addresses you created.. This should tell the PC to route traffic between the two subnets. I did what you said. after enableICS, I have to assign a IP address again. so I assigned it as 192.168.7.22. from RPi, ...

RPi 4 access another subnet in LAN

my home LAN has 192.168.5.0/24 subnet. my RPi 4 connects to winPC( 192.168.5.33), and formed another subnet 192.168.7.0/24. so winPC has second interface 192.168.7.22. and RPi's IP is 192.168.7.10. winPC and RPi could ping each other via 192.168.7.0 subnet. but pi could not ping 192.168.5.33. I noti...

Re: RPi passing package in LAN

I tried many ways to setup bridge, but never get luck. seems pretty simple, like sudo apt-get install bridge-utils sudo brctl addbr br0 sudo brctl addif br0 eth1 eth2 eth3 eth4 assign br0 ip 192.168.7.1 then I assign devices connect to eth1, eth2, ip address 192.168.7.10, and 192.168.7.11 but they c...

Re: RPi passing package in LAN

If you're currently using statically assigned IP address for each of the USB ethernet dongles on the Pi and using those addresses on devices A, B, C, and D to reach it rather than DNS name resolution you've got some extra hoops to jump through. With a bridge the Pi will go from four IP addresses to...

Re: RPi passing package in LAN

Something not worky there, including your link unfortunately. EDIT. OK. The doc was written 4 years ago, it is outdated. You can follow the method below and remove bridge-utils if you've installed it. It is not required. Title Setup the network bridge of the bridged AP documentation shows how to cr...

Re: RPi passing package in LAN

It is fairly simple to configure a network bridge between interfaces in Linux. Just make sure you use a recent tutorial as things have changed in recent years and the old method is no longer used. It's pretty much a case of create a virtual bridge interface, assign the real interfaces to it. Make s...

Re: RPi passing package in LAN

thank you. yes, I want devices connected to RPi talk to each other. I'll take a look at bridging. I think router include bridging functions. if RPi acts as a router, then it should have bridging function.
