You're not supposed to be able to type anything at the password prompt. It's designed like this.

[my experience]RS better than e14

So I ordered 2 Pi's on launch day. I got mine from RS two weeks ago. It's in a solid cardboard box, sandwiched between two thick pieces of foam. There's two sheets of nicely printed documentation. The e14 one arrived today. It's in a flimsy cardboard box that got squished on its journey here. There'...

Re: GPU unlocking.

Good news: Will that coded pack cost money? Yes. Not for R-Pi or Broadcom. The money would go to the MPLA for licensing. I'm hoping for Mpeg2+VC1+AC3+DTS in a pack for under $10. That should allow DVD and Bluray to be decoded (and will help other files that use these). http://www.raspberrypi.org/php...

Re: repeating video desplay

We could make a distro where it will automatically do a slideshow of the pictures you plug into the usb port. We only need a model A for it. :)

Yeah sure it would work. You could also buy TVs with built in sd card slot or usb ports.

Re: Hey guys, wanting some opinions

Media center is fine now, just download Raspbmc.

Because the Linux distros aren't currently much developed, if you want something done you have to do it yourself. That's a good learning experience for you.

You can't just patch it. You have to find the source code and then compile it for arm.

Re: GPU unlocking.

I couldn't find the post now, but one of the Broadcom engineers said that the internal documentation is a gazillion pages thick, you need a proprietary compiler, and even the guys working at Broadcom have a hard time understanding it. So good luck if you want to try. :D
