How about you plug in another 5v power adaptor into the mains and sense when that goes off?
That way no dangerous playing with the mains required.

What can you see in Disk Management?
For future reference, you don't need to erase the old image, just put the new one on.

The current is at least 700 mA. It doesn't matter how high above 700 you make it it still works. There's only one kind of polarity with microUSB

You can use the same program. Just press "read" instead of "write" this time.

It's very easy in Windows actually. Open Network Connections, select the Ethernet and the WiFI connections. Right click. Bridge. Done.

Because the space available for the sd card reading code is quite small, so some cards may not be supported.
Compatibility should be better now with the new firmware.

You can't get Chrome. You can get Chromium, which is quite similar. Open up a terminal and type

sudo apt-get install chromium-browser
Read up on apt-get to know how to install software.
