Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

ERROR: Unable to create GUI. Exiting I kept getting this same error every time I tried to start Kodi (either by terminal or the Raspbian menu). I have a new Raspberry Pi 4 (4G ram) with fresh Raspbian Buster with Desktop install. Memory is set at 512M. I installed Kodi from the link in the first po...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

I found an interesting bug. I can't scan my library, kodi just freezes up and stops working. I also can't get the last picture that kodi showed away, even if I kill kodi via cmd line from another machine. Only a hard reset helps. Here a log I managed to get yesterday kodi_crashlog-20190803_033200.7...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

It would be nice to get it included in the official repo, but the way the vt switching is currently done is a bit hacky. I did write a small app to switch vts in a more proper way, but it is causing Kodi to become very slow for some reason. It is not just very slow, it is as well slow on exiting wh...

Re: Raspberry pi 4 not booting.

In my case, booting is frozen (black screen always) until I remove usb dongle for my remote keyboard. Then booting continue and then I plug in usb dongle again and all is fine. The same problem is with everything what I attach to RPi4: usb sticks, external hard drives, wired mouse or keyboard... :) ...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Hi, I used your advice about setting Display refresh rate to 'on start/stop' and set up the highest resolution in Kodi to 4096 x 2160. On other side my Raspbian resolution stayed on 1920x1080, 60.00Hz. Not sure if Raspbian buster resolution means something but this one fits nicely to my TV screen, ...

Re: Dispmanx VNC Server

One question, now that I am using higher resolution (4096 x 2160) in Kodi, dispmanx is not working. Can I specify resolution in config file as a parameter or "vnc-params" parameter? I know I can specify hdmi resolution in /boot/config.txt file but I don't want to do that, because I want to have spec...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

For me 4k is not working very well. I tried following resolutions in Kodi under settup: 3840 x 2160, 30Hz and 4096 x 2160, 30Hz. Audio seems to work fine but not in the sync. with picture, probably because picture is stuttering big time, not watchable at all. Video used was not 4k but 1280 x 720 vi...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Hi Marvin, ;-) I've installed your Kodi on my Pi4, working great, I've tried to stress it by playing 4K HEVC (h265) & it didn't even work up a sweat, about 10% CPU usage, processor not getting above 60C. Thank you for providing this build, with any luck someone will put it in the official repositor...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Hm, I just downloaded new deb file, upgraded and I still get same message about local text terminal when I type kodi in terminal. @amilino you can now select Kodi from the menu. Or if you want to do it from the terminal, enter kodi-rpi4 . See the first post for more details (I've just updated it) a...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

I reinstalled entire kodi and removed stretch source from pipplware and used only buster one. It all works great, also CEC and everything.

Regarding little program for automation of launching kodi, it makes kodi indeed slow.

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Regarding CEC, it is working fine in my case, but I can see that I have libcec4 installed from pipplware stretch repository. Basically, I had both repos in my source list before installing deb package version from the first post. deb http://pipplware.pplware.pt/pipplware/dists/buster/main/binary / d...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

I changed my resolution on Raspbian and Kodi to 1920x1080, 60.00Hz. That is the highest resolution with 60Hz (on my TV) that is working fine with no stutter and tear problems.

To avoid starting text terminal manually you can use:

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Is it possible to restore entire kodi settings from RPi3 under the ".kodi" folder? Will it work or do I need to install all addons again and adjust settings? @amilino I am no Kodi expert, but as far as I know it will automatically upgrade your existing databases and addons in the .kodi folder. Re: Hdmi hotplug not usefull

This sounds like it is more down to your monitor than the Pi. The EDID should be readable even when the display is powered off - there's even a 5V line up the HDMI cable to power the EDID EEPROM. Testing on my Dell monitor here I can read the EDID happily when it is turned off via the soft power bu...
