Re: root file system full

If you haven't expanded the file system, do that first. People tend to forget about having to do that (or simply skipped over it in all of the guides). Another possibility is a power loss that has caused a weird write to occur, completely filling the card (I've had it happen before). If that's the c...

Re: raspberry pi launches openelec media centre

Since you imaged the card with OpenElec (an operating system), you need to reimage the card with Raspbian (another operating system) in order to get Raspbian back. Since you copied the files onto the SD card, why don't you copy them back onto the computer, into a folder for easy access when you copy...

Re: Confused

I've been on here a week, and thought this was the place for good information. But all I see is insults and arrogance... which in turn quiets those who want to help. I've been on here a few months, and it is a great place for information. As for the insults and arrogance, as the saying goes: if you...

Re: Night Vision Cams Range of View

If you're after a proper night vision camera that picks up heat, the FLIR Lepton is probably the cheapest (but still expensive) option that should work fine: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/flir-lepton-hookup-guide If you don't mind hacking together a USB adaptor, there are also the FLIR ONE an...

Re: Kodi streaming HD video

Sorry, not trying to steal this thread. Newbie here also, just about to download OSMC and read your post about Raspbian. If using the Pi just for Kodi, it would make more sense just to flash OSMC onto the card correct? Woundn't installing Raspbian just steal resources. As this is my first attempt, ...

Re: File corruption in OpenElec

So far ok so it seems it was the SD card (tough it passed all the tests :S) Weird, but I'm glad you got it working. Maybe use the dodgy card for storing media files (videos / music) and see if it holds up that way... Should I use NOOB to install OpenElec or flash OpenElec directly to a clean card. ...

Re: File corruption in OpenElec

Not sure why you can't use the SD Formatter using something that's only 4 years old. My PC is 12-13 years old now, and it works fine (as long as I don't unplug the adapter while it's doing its thing). Using the camera to format the card was a good idea, as was testing the card. The speed shouldn't b...

Re: New guy!

Kodi's a great choice for a dedicated media device. You don't necessarily need Noobs (you can download the OSMC or OpenElec images), but I'll leave that in your hands. From my experience on my Pi2, streaming can be choppy using cheap wifi cards (which probably isn't an issue with the Pi3's wifi). Et...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Wifi works, but can not remote vi

For the ethernet issues, it sounds like it could be missing or incorrect values for the default gateway. As for the wifi not being accessible, my guess is your wifi adapter is using a different IP than the one you're trying to connect to. If it's assigned by your router, and isn't static, you could ...

Re: No "my add-ons " or network connection

The external drive will need to be mounted before you can use it. OSMC and OpenElec do that automatically in the background. Raspbian Jessie does it automatically if you boot into the desktop (or at least start it using startx). This tutorial runs you through the basics of mounting hard drives: http...

Re: No "my add-ons " or network connection

For the most part, ethernet connections will override wifi connections. There are ways around it (not in OpenElec (unless you rebuild it)), but given your issues at the moment, try one or the other (not both). If you're using the latest version of OSMC or OpenElec, subtitles are under System -> Sett...

Re: Which Raspian for PI1

If you're just going to be installing Raspbian, why not just use the Raspbian image instead? No need to install it from Noobs that way... Whether full (desktop) or lite (cli / headless) is up to you. Just remember to expand the file system before doing anything else...

Re: Deleting a media source

Depending on your setup, a long press may bring up a menu with the 'remove source' option. If that doesn't work, there is an option *somewhere* (I only found it once) that will enable the long press option. Alternatively, a right click on a mouse will bring the menu up too.

This sounds an awful lot like homework... To get you started, check out the example on the bottom of this page: http://cimg.eu/reference/group__cimg__loops.html That code is used to blur an image, but the upside to it, is that it shows you how to define a subregion of an image, how to scan the entir...

Re: Servo vs DC motor vs stepper motor

All 3. Stepper motor for the base - gives you the ability to turn the entire thing to whatever point you want (because the steps are always a degree of rotation). A second one could be added for vertical targeting as well. Servo for dealing individual cards - basically just a push rod that pushes a ...

If you shut it down using the power button in the Kodi interface, and you wait for the Pi to shut down (green light flashes a few times), that shouldn't happen... How cheap was the card? It depends on what you plug into it. Ideally, for a Pi3, you should use a 5V 2.5A power supply.

Re: Omxplayers sound only works with -o local switch

I have a HDMI monitor without speakers plugged in, which possibly causes omxplayer to send the audio over HDMI. I don't have an HDMI monitor with speakers to test this hypothesis. My experience with omxplayer, is that it defaults to hdmi audio. If you want to use the headphone jack, get used to add...

If it says you don't have space, it sounds more like you haven't expanded the file system than anything else... That will undoubtedly cause a whole load of different issues. Format the card, re-image it, boot Raspbian, resize the file system, reboot immediately after resizing the file system, then u...

I've never had issues getting an A+ here in Australia. The price has gone up a bit though, due to the abysmal state of the Australian Dollar (the "$35 computer" is an A+ here). Depending on shipping costs, maybe you can source some from here.

Why cant I indent the way i want to indent? Because there are general standards people expect you to follow, simply for the sake of readability and problem solving. If you plan on becoming a programmer for a company, you won't get a choice as to how you indent. They will have their own standards, a...

Re: Connection between Raspberry Pi and Android with Bluetoo

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -y install bluetooth blueman
- Start the bluetooth applet (I think it's in preferences).
- Pair from your phone (blueman has a few issues).

There are console commands that avoid blueman, if you're willing to take that route.
