Re: Raspberry pi power

The current recommended power supplies for the Pi are AC to DC converters by the way. Here its 120 V AC @ 60HZ coming out on my wall receptacle. My Pi power pack changes that to 5 V DC. ;)

Re: rpi3B usb connector max,current

It's the only one I've seen rated at more than 2.5 Amps with a Micro USB plug on the end. I run my bread board rig from one of these, https://www.adafruit.com/products/658 . With this, https://www.adafruit.com/products/368 There is a 5A version of that power pack. and other adapter cables for it lik...

Re: rpi3B usb connector max,current

If your external drive has the right connector on it, this may help. https://www.wdc.com/products/wdlabs/wd- ... WDLB021RNN I have a drive enclosure wich accepts that plug and have plans to buy that kit. You can buy just the 3A power pack too.

Re: My 2 Cents: Coin Heatsink :)_

I put heat sinks on my Zero's, even though I don't overclock. They are inexpensive so why not? I just order them when I'm ordering my Pi, or other Pi related bits. Yea I already have a casing and it doesn't have a hole for a heatsink but i still have thermal pads paste and I got euros :P so i want ...

Have you worked with surface mount technology before? I do believe that socket is SMT?

If you go to preferences > raspberry Pi configuration > there is a boot section with an option to boot to the desktop GUI and auto log you in. Set it to that and you won't be prompted to log in every time.

Re: Ras Clock 4.0

I found it a bit intimidating at first, having never used Linux before. The more I did the easier it got, you start to remember the commands so when you get to tutorials that make assumptions, you don't hit a brick wall. I played around with breakout boards at first, GPS, temp sensors etc. And RTC m...

Those instructions are what you need to do. sudo nano is the command to edit a file. For example sudo nano /boot/config.txt will open the config.txt file for editing. One your done editing you press ctrl X and save the file. Those instructions seem to assume you'd know that. I've seen better instruc...

Re: Need help with my shutdown code

I have a 2 pin header soldered to the reset pins. I just momentarily short them when I want it to boot up again. Most of my Pi's have a momentary push button wired to the reset pins. My KODI Pi like this one, I just shut down and leave plugged in. Then when I want to use them I tap the reset button ...

That's my take on it too, and why they went with a 3A power pack. I haven't ordered one yet, its on my wish list. A laptop drive (2.5) inch should be OK. Trying to drive a full sized desktop drive, especially one with dual platters might be tricky though? My drive is a 5400 RPM laptop drive so I thi...

Ok weird things are happing? It works, shuts down, then it doesn't work? No edits done between it working and not working? It's just not repeatable. May be different depending on whether it auto runs on boot or I launch it from idle? Moving the joystick is also moving the cursor on screen in the ope...
