Re: Will sub zero temps harm a RPi?

I think condensation should be a concern, not cold. Connectors might fail or get glitchy. If this is a very high altitude, more than a mile, there actually may be heating issues in a thinner atmosphere. Check to see if the chip is not over heating (uncomfortable to the touch). Experiment, lets us kn...

Re: Heat sink adhesive

In addition to what is already offered, I don't think a heat sink is needed except if you are going to be overclocking or running really complex software. If putting a finger on the chip doesn't feel more than warm, relax and don't bother. Heat sinks also don't work very well if there isn't air circ...

Re: RPI 3 + Adafruit Serial Console...

PS "Force Turbo" as your link suggests is probably not the best solution. You are overclocking the PI when you do. There is another solution that sets core speed to 250, also not the best solution, you are then slowing down the PI3 which seems a bit pointless given what the Pi3 is best at. Try it my...

Re: RPI 3 + Adafruit Serial Console...

The console cable need not even be connected to the PI (any Pi) for it to be visible on the Max as a serial device. If you were to connect the rx to the tx wire (white to green in the adafruit unit) then you should be able to send characters from the Mac and get them back. If this does not work your...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 serial console

I have had issues with internet performance being about 1/2 of that from the PI2, including wired. About 35mbps for the pi3. When I disabled BT - my wired performance about double, now comparable with the PI2. Wireless performance didn't change.

Measurement was done with speedtest-cli

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 serial console

studiozero's method of disabling BT to get a "normal" console works great. Thanks. I'm finding BT to be a bit buggy right now anyway so awaiting a better implementation of that and this then is a good work around.

Re: Bad WIFI/Connection Performance

It would be interesting if you tried the latest Raspbian Jessie operating system, available for download at Raspberrypi.org Lagging menus hasn't much to do with WiFi performance. It would also be interesting if you tried a direct wired connection. With the latest version of Raspbian, the user interf...
