So for the pull switch I want to use, I would connect its terminals just like the tutorial, but ignore where he plugs in the other 2 terminals on his button; and instead of a breadboard, I would use wires, correct? At 1:55 in the video the author explains that there are 4 pins, but they form two pairs. So only two connections to the switch are needed.

There are two terminals on the switch. Connect them in the same way as the two terminals on the original button.

But, the pull switch is pull-on, pull-off, so you need to alter your software to look for a change in state, not only a change from "not-pressed" to "pressed".
