Re: Can't set up Pizero
[quote="drgeoff" Check that the mini-HDMI plug is fully home into the Zero's socket. Rather than NOOBS, I would put the latest Raspbian image directly on the card, at least to troubleshoot this. That defaults to outputting to the HDMI if an HDMI display is connected and powered on before b...

Re: Can't set up Pizero
Not so much a typo, more a brain malfunction:)) That is, Magpi's standard to mini HDMI connectorjahboater wrote:Have you tried plugging it directly into the micro hdmi socket? (or was the "usb" bit a typo?).The cable is plugged into the zero via Magpi's usb adaptor.

Re: Can't set up Pizero
NOOBS has its own partitioning scheme: https://github.com/raspberrypi/noobs/wiki/NOOBS-partitioning-explained Than you fruitoftheloom that's an interesting site I haven't seen. This is really a dry run before introducing a young lad to Pi 2 but it's beginning to intrigue me in its own right. Ken

Re: Can't set up Pizero
I'm using a Logik television model L19LDIB11 B. It has two inputs 1 and 2. I have used it for three years as a monitor for one of my desktops using Suse, Mint and Debian always plugged into HDMI 1 with an expensive cable bought when I bought the television. It rarely gets moved so I doubt the cable ...

Can't set up Pizero (SOLVED)
I have Pizero with connectors from December Magpi cover. Firefox ZTE phone charger, 5v 700mWatts. Maplin 2.4G keyboard and mouse. Maplin 16GiB micro sd. I have downloaded NOOBS_v1_5_0.zip to a Mint laptop, opened NOOBS with Archive Manager and Extracted to a new Pi folder. I have formatted the SD as...

Re: SD card formatting
Thank you Douglas, that's food for thought. I was rather surprised at the size of Noobs, took over an hour to download on my 300KiB connection. I confess it hadn't occurred to me that first class post and a spare sd would be simple and I could use TestDisk to recover files from the broken one - am a...

Re: SD card formatting
Thank you Douglas. Used Linux since Suse 6.4 but I'm doing a run through on a Pi zero before helping my step grandson set up a Pi2. He lives a hundred and twenty miles away and I want to ensure I can get it running in a day trip. He's eleven and has only used Microsoft so I need to explore all possi...

SD card formatting
Since there is no Formatter for GNU/Linux machines and they understand Fat 32 files, am I to assume that a new 16Gb micro card can be used "as is" out of the packet for copying Noobs to?
Thanks for looking,

Re: Monitors
That should have been DVI-D of course.

My thanks to Laurens and W.H. for your comforting responses. A DVD-D monitor with headphones would probably please the parents and ease my job.

Monitors
I want to set up a Pi for my grandson. The family does not have a television so I need to get a monitor. I have a vga monitor and was planning to use the Gert vga/hdmi board but now find that this requires considerable alteration to the settings at installation. And it means that he will not be able...
