Re: Powering the pi zero with only 1A

Yes. We are still talking about the pi zero. At least in my case. I still need to know how to monitor the battery charge. From what I understood the pi zero won't tell me that the charge dropped on it's own. I need a circuit to monitor the powerbank. What would you suggest that I use? I'm handy with...

Re: Powering the pi zero with only 1A

But does that instantly power it down? I would kind of like a warning before it does that do I can save my progress on anything I'm working on :P.

Re: Powering the pi zero with only 1A

Is there any way of making a simple circuit that will light an led when the power is going low? I've searched around but I can't seem to find anything usable. At least not that I understand.

Re: Soldering anything to usb port

Hm... I've pulled a small usb hub that was mounted in the front of an old home computer. It was attached directly to the mother board. It's not self powered obviously. I'd post a picture but It's at my folks house. If I strip that (it's incased in some rubber material that was screwed on to the case...

Soldering anything to usb port

Hy. I just have a quick technical question. If I make something like this: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=127449 Will that render the usb port useless except for the wifi dongle? I am planning on trying something similar with a usb audio output but I would still need the usb...

Does anyone have a clue how ong the pie would last on 2600mah or 5200 mah?

Powering the pi zero with only 1A

I'm working on a project and I want to power my pi on the go. I am planning on powering the pi zero with a powerbank that outputs 5V/1A. The pi will have a screen attached and switches connected to the gpio pins. Nothing else really. I plan on stripping the powebank from it's enclosure and building ...

Re: Screen and tactile switches to GPIOs

Well... That shouldn't be a problem. The zero has no headers anyway, so I'll just put the stack on to the zero. Thanks for all your advice. Just one more question though. Is there any way of telling which pins the screen uses? As was stated earlier these Chines screens don't come with lot of support...

Re: Screen and tactile switches to GPIOs

Thank you for that info. Basically that was what I needed to know. That the screen doesn't really use all the pins that it covers. I did some more thinking and I might go with a stacked header for this build and connect the zero and screen together while connecting the switches via ribbon cable. Tha...

Re: Screen and tactile switches to GPIOs

But 3 of those 12 are GND. I still don't understand anything to be honest. I just need an idiot proof answer. Like I said... This is my first "bigger" pi project ever. I don't understand most english technical lingo as well (I'm from Slovenia), I understand a lot but when it comes to technical knowl...

Re: Screen and tactile switches to GPIOs

To be honest I did not understand a word of that. If you are thinking that I rewire the buttons already on the screen... Aren't those for adjusting brightness and contrast?

Re: Screen and tactile switches to GPIOs

But as far as I can see that only leaves 9 pins that I can use. I would need at least 12.

Also I don't really understand what you mean with "screens with tactile switches assembled on it using same connector of the touchable screen".

Re: Screen and tactile switches to GPIOs

I'm working on a budget. To be honest I was even thinking of buying something cheap from ebay but I'm not really sure if that's a good idea. Something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5-Touch-screen-320-480-LCD-Display-Board-for-Raspberry-Pi-3-B-2-Model-B-/401124252671?hash=item5d64de5bff:g:-o0A...

Screen and tactile switches to GPIOs

Hy. I just had the luck and acquired a pi zero. I already have some minor experience working on the pi 2 but I'm no programming or electrical pro. My first try will be making a handheld console. I tried googling some of the answers but couldn't find out anything that I could understand :P. 1.) If yo...

N64 slow on hdmi

I am having weird issues when runing muppen64. If i use the analogue output it works fine on my tv. But when i hook the pi up a computer monitor via hdmi it runs slow as hell. Is there any particular reason for this?

Retropie hotkey maping

Hy. I'm trying to play a game on retropie that requires the key combination star+select+a+b to get to the save screen. But star+select is the default key combination to exit the emulator. I've searched online and enterd the config file but for the life of my can't figure out how to remap the hotkey ...

Screen cropping.

I finally managed to get the RCA output working (by rewiring a cable I already had myself). At first the output was in black and white but I fixed that by changing the SD-TV mode to 2 in the config file. Then I also added sdtv_aspect=1 to force it in to 4:3 aspect ratio. But the television still cut...

Re: can't ssh

Sorry, I'm fairly new to this. I tried that and a long string shows up with debugs and at the end it asks me for a password. What password? I tried my network password and it doesn't work. I tried the default retropie password for ssh. All that happens is: debug3: packet_send2: adding 64 (len 57 pad...

Re: can't ssh

I tried the same thing with retropie. Doesn't work. Openelec doesn't have a comand line. I can go find the IP adress in openelec and input the default username and password but it doesn't work. Is it weird that both openelec and retropie use the same IP? EDIT: I tried ssh -vvv root@ip in retro pi. T...

can't ssh

Hy. I've just successfully installed openelec on my rp2 and am having trouble ssh-ing to it. I use cyberduck or fillezilla (I'm no to good with a comand prompt). I enter the ip adress and the default username and password (root, openelec) and the dang thing won't connect. I even tried setting up a s...
