Re: What is your software (& physical) setup like?

Man I wish I could spend the money you guys have on this thing.. I just getting stuff from Walmart and Ebay often with money from my family... I hate being poor! I remember exactly how much I (ie. family) spent on my Pi setup: £74. I got it for Christmas 2014 (don't worry everyone, I did want...

Re: Adapter Makes High-Pitched Whistling Sound

I just got a new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, with a generic 5V/2A adapter Everytime I plug it in, the adapter makes a whistling sound. I only connect an ethernet cable to it, using SSH to login. The sound stops when I shut down the Pi using sudo halt -h Is this a broken adapter? Or is it OK? Will it br...

Re: What does your Desktop look like?

Well, today my desktop looks like this (working at the university library); I'm using my Rasppi7 'highly customized' Raspberry PI as a nameserver, wifi bridge router, and local firewall from the university system. I have a serial ttl console setup to my HP (which also doubles as the desktop for the...

Re: What does your Desktop look like?

Generally you can't see my desk top for all the stuff piled on it. Soldering iron stand, power supplies, PCBs, miles of cables and bits of wire, assorted components, sandwiches. Oh, you mean what's on the screen, which also clutters my desk top. Meh, who cares? Look, if you aren't interested, you d...

IDK, but the Raspberry Pi can run Quake III, if you're into that sort of thing :-)

What is your software (& physical) setup like?

Hi everyone. I'll do the main post first, then my submission. MAIN POST: This topic is for showing people how you've customised, and what you've done, with your Pi (software-wise and physically), and getting inspiration from other people's ideas. Just upload some screenshots - and/or photos - showin...

Thanks @JimmyN! I found your answer a little late, because I forgot to subscribe to my own question. And there is no "see own messages" option in this forum, or I didn't find it yet :-). I'm going to check it out soon, I now have the same kind of trouble with the main menu. I edited that, I deleted...

My personal conclusion on using Claws-Mail in Raspian: First thanks to pcasebere, DougieLawson, & Hello world :-) Good information and comparison. I changed TLS and port settings --still no go. Also, I elected NOT to allow less secure apps. Instead, I downloaded the Ubuntu Mate disk image for Raspb...

Wow that was fast. Maybe you should try booting your Pi(s) without an SD card to see what happens?

Re: Pi cannot read SD card and will not boot

I was under the impression that for the original B, with no card, the act led turned on only very dimly. To turn on with full brightness, the card must have been read. Unless the SoC is faulty ... I have a B+. One day I did not insert the SD card far enough and both lights were lit solid. I powered...

Re: Error 403 Forbidden - Webserver

Try changing the file/folder's owner to www-data . That helped me. The downside to this is that they won't belong to the Pi user anymore, so you won't be able to edit them if you're not logged in as root...

One of the Raspberry Pi's(Alpha) will not boot. The other Raspberry Pi (Beta) boots normally. Alpha's Red P...

Re: Webserver

Jim, You are right, we see so many unrealistic expectations of the Pi here. From raw CPU performance to network bandwidth. However I'm guessing the Pi might be able to hold 20000 open TCP/IP connections. It might need some careful configuration. There are limits on these things imposed by the kerne...

The best I have found so far is Epiphany Web Browser, but I'm sure there are better, faster browsers out there :)
