Re: Raspian Jessie - how to lock down the desktop

Maybe the rc.xml file is missing on new installations. It has been the settings file for openbox with default LXDE before the Foundation added its modifications. I prefer a settings file which does not depend on the settings used by the modifications. obconf has also been removed from the latest Ra...

Start-up sound

Is there a way to play a short start-up sound in Raspbian, like in Windows? Maybe via rc.local? My attempts at making a Python script to play a sound via pygame didn't work, so I'm asking here for advice.
Thanks.

Re: Which best browser??

You're wrong about Epiphany, that's a terrible browser and a buggy piece of brown smelly stuff. That's just my opinion. It works for me, although I use Midori slightly more than Epiphany. My experience is that using those involves them crashing which I don't find acceptable. I also want to run nosc...

Re: Web server at raspbery pi

Here, the very first (and second if you want PHP) steps will get you a working Lighttpd server. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=151358 Yes, I did make that guide, but that's not why I'm linking to it. It's because a. I can't write all that again and b. Lighttpd is more lightw...

Wow, that was quite the ordeal with your laptop. Hope things are working well now. What do you use for imaging your system? Sounds like you need something new anyway (TWO restore failures!). I've been using Clonezilla for years and it's worked well for me. My laptop (Yoga 2 Pro convertible ultraboo...

Hey there a way to to play online games on Raspberry pi 3? Online games as in 1. Online (Multiplayer) games that are a program on the Pi, or as in 2. games that you go to a website to play? If it's 1, then the post above this one is correct. If it's 2, anything that uses Adobe Flash will not work ,...

[CURIOUSITY] The following packages cannot be authenticate

This question is asked just out of curiosity, and does not require a fix, since I'm going to reinstall Raspbian very soon anyway.

So, just this morning, this showed up out of the blue:

Like the title says. Preferably one with reminders for a set time, on a set day. Ideally on par feature wise with the calendar that comes pre-installed with Android (maybe only Samsung) phones.
