Re: updated mosquitto not working

Hi Dougie,

my mosquitto.conf file is exactly as your example. I also checked the conf.d directory and that only contained a file called README which indicated that files in this directory would also be read on startup, but no other files are present.

updated mosquitto not working

I had mosquitto running as a broker on my rpi. All was running just fine. A couple of hours ago to ensure I was up to date I did the apt-get update and apt-get dist-apdate stuff and it seems to update the mosquitto to 1.4.11. Now the mosquitto service does not work. I can see a mosquitto service run...

Re: Help a newbie be smoke free

Yes, now I think about it a bit more, though my electronics expertise is extremely lacking, I can see that sharing the ground on the RPi to the ground on the breadboard power supply should enable two power supply positive voltages to be available on one circuit. I think so...... mm. I'm thinking I w...

Re: Help a newbie be smoke free

Hi Hippy, the breadboard power supply can be either 3.3 or 5 volts depending on a jumper setting. I was thinking of using 5v as that is the voltage I used to when wiring directly to the RPi.

Help a newbie be smoke free

I’ve wired up a DHT22 to my RPi and I’m reading the temp and humidity OK. My next trick is to put the DHT22 on a breadboard for further tinkering. My Breadboard has its own power supply and I was going to use this to power the DHT22. But then I though, not so fast, I will be wiring the VIn and Groun...

Hi Heater,
Thanks for that info, that sounds just what I was after, I will do some testing on it.

Mac to RPi program to program

I have a python program running on RPi that can control various things. I want to have a master program running on my iMac (python again) that can send information to the RPi program (over the network) in order to get it to trigger the appropriate action. But how to do this? All I can think is for m...

Re: VNC Server / viewer

Thanks Dave for pointing me to that posting. I had seen the posting on the VNC bit before in another post, but my ignorance of dot files meant I thought I did not have the cofig file on my system as thought I must be on a different tightserver or something. So now I know about the MS RD connector, d...

VNC Server / viewer

I put this post in the beginners section, but on reflection I think I should have posted it here so I duplicate the post - apologies to organisers. Problem: I have 2 RPi 2 s. One has wheezy one has jessie. Same set up of VNC tightserver and scripts and I followed the VNC setup docs from the RPi web ...

LCD screen

The new RPi lcd screen works OK if I login with un and pw and then do startx, but if i set the option to autoboot into the desktop in raspi-config, after the normal verbose startup texts, I just get a flashing cursor and no desktop. I've gone through the routines to get the system updated as per tro...
