Re: Colour-coded PCB photos

Hmmm, still think I prefer 3127, sorry :(
IMHO the consistent colouration and being able to read the text on the chips is more important than being able to read the text on the top of the ethernet jack ;-)
Edit: at least for my purposes anyway.

Re: Rename this forum ?

I think as the Gertboard is "semi-official" ( :?: ) it'll probably be more popular than the other addon boards, so IMHO it makes sense to leave a separate forum for Gertboard and discuss the other GPIO boards in "Addons" ?

Re: Forum changes

Also... I guess the mods can't possibly hope to be able to re-categorise all existing topics into one of the new sub-forums. Maybe there should be a specific (stickied) thread where people could suggest which sub-forum a particular old topic should be moved to? And maybe there should be more languag...

Re: Colour-coded PCB photos

I hate to sound picky about such great photos... :( I prefer the everything-in-focus of DSC_3185.jpg but I prefer the colour/lighting of DSC_3127.jpg (in 3815 you can't read the text on the chips and there's a bit of "glare" in the corners) I appreciate that getting such good pictures of such a tiny...

Re: Fedora 17 ARM

It seems to have the same 3.1.9 kernel as the current Fedora 14 and Debian releases (built March 4). Will there be a different kernel in the final release? It's the same base version number of the kernel, but it's not in fact the same kernel ;) The RPi Foundation have been making regular updates/pa...

Forum changes

Cool, nice to see things more organised :-D
In the announcement of the forums change-over, Eben promised that all permalinks to old topics/posts would continue to work with the new forums. Will that still hold true, with the "splitting and copying" of old threads?

Re: Timeless demo

Demos like that are almost always written in assembly language (in this case x86), making it impossible* to port to a different CPU architecture, such as ARM used by the Raspberry Pi.

ArmedSlack Image is ready. Re: Kylo TV Web browser now gone open source!

Nice to see that they've given https://github.com/teamkylo/kylo-browser/wiki/Build-Instructions and not just a raw source-code dump, which is the "Open Sourcing" approach taken by some companies. Never used (or heard of) Kylo but it seems to be based on top of Mozilla's cross-platform XULRunner so m...

I suspect at this very early stage that's totally undefined. Chances are it might be one of the OpenMAX layers again?

I suspect you might get faster results using the Raspbian distro, which makes better use of the RPi's FPU.

Re: Status of SD card compatibility - What should I buy?

But is the Pi likely to see this extra speed in the near future. That's not clear at this point, it seems we may expect something more than we currently get. I wouldn't expect that to happen until some of the other sdcard problems get sorted out though. See this thread for something more http://www...

I'm personally just interested of shots of the whole board, from both sides please. The less colour/flash distortion the better, and it's also nice if I don't have to do too much perspective-correction in GIMP :) And if they're on a neutral background (no rulers ;) ) it's easier for me to create the...

the two hi-res beta board links on the wiki seem to be dead now too.
