Re: Is There a Way I Can Set 1080i as the Permenant Resoluti

I guess the above responses have sorted it out for you but if not, take a look at the last 3 posts on this thread, because I asked a similar question yesterday myself.

Re: Setting up HDMI output when video output isn't what you

I am attempting to run my Pi(s) Headless using VNC. If I connect an HDMI TV, before starting up the Pi, the display on the VNC viewer is exactly what I require but if I start the Pi up without a display connected the Viewer display is very low quality. I have obtained the EDID file information with ...

Re: Unable to save new 'config.txt' file

Thank you gordon77 & jahboater. I can now save the file but the change I thought I needed to make (force HDMI) was already there anyway at the bottom of the file. Should I be changing something else to get HDMI 'type' display on VNC viewer (the same as my Pi that is actually connected to an HDMI dis...

Re: Unable to save new 'config.txt' file

@DirkS Thank you. No, I was just trying to use a text editor. I have now opened the file with the command you suggested. How do you save your changes though? Having said that, the change I wanted to make, ie 'hdmi_force_hotplug=1', I have now noticed is already in place at the bottom of the file as ...

Unable to save new 'config.txt' file

I am trying to update the 'config.txt' file to ensure the Pi always boots up in HDMI.
I made the change I need to make but when I try to save the resulting file I get an error message:
'Cannot open file to write'

I have read that this is something to do with permissions?

I have decided to go with VNC as it seems to do exactly what I require.

Thank you very much to mattmiller for suggesting this option and to everyone else who posted with other suggestions.

Re: Complete Headless Operation

I have been able to run programs on it remotely from a Windows PC, on my internal network, via WiFi using MobaXterm. Em - why aren't you using VNC for remote use Your Pi wouldn't then do anything at all on Windows shutdown Thanks. I hadn't heard of VNC or realised that VNC is included in the latest...

Re: VNC instructions (Pi remote desktop)

I have reloaded NOOBS to get the version that includes VNC Server on the Pi and it is running OK. I have loaded up VNC Viewer on a Windows 10 PC and entered the Pi IP address from my local network. However, a window then comes and asks for a user name and password. Could someone please advise where ...

Reading the Keyboard Cursor Keys

I would like to use the Cursor keys on the Keyboard to move a Pan-Tilt Hat.
Is there any Python(3) code that will achieve this or at least be able to recognise presses of the Cursor Keys.
Thanks

What software are you using to drive it? I have tried without success so far, trying to find some Python 3 software but so far, I have just used the command line. Thanks to the answer from jbeale above, I have now sorted out the mirror image 'feature' but I am still short of some Python 3 software ...

I received the official v2 Pi camera as Christmas present and have it connected to a Pi3, using the Pan-Tilt Hat. At present it is taking Mirror image pictures. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Send data(messages, strings) to be displayed on a 20x4 L

I regularly use an LCD to display information from a Python program (Python 3 in my case) and I used some excellent advice from Mikronauts, to set it up.

Thanks Dougie,
I have seen that so I guess the clue is in the Colour coding of the Ribbon. I bought some other cables as well though and had hoped to see the 'Camera end' as well

@B.Goode

Thank you for providing the above links. I have just purchased both types of Pi Camera and was wondering 'How to start'.

The instruction just says 'connect the camera' without advising which way round the ribbon cable goes. I would be grateful for your advice.

It seems that something is wrong with your program.
It would probably be worth posting your program listing on here to let others comment.
Post it using the Code Button to ensure it is formatted correctly.

Thank you.
I notice that the commands do not mention GPIO.
Does that mean that updates to all 'commands' will be installed.
