Here's another RS485 module that's designed to work with the Pi:

It would useful it you could include mounting holes for the Raspberry Pi Zero as well.

Maker Faire UK (Sat/Sun 23/24 April)

Hi All Maker Faire UK is next week (Sat/Sun 23/24 April). It's being hosted in Newcastle, there's more details here: www.makerfaireuk.com There's usually lots of Pi related stuff and lots of other cool making stuff going on and a great opportunity to chat with the makers from other hack/fab labs. If...

Re: SPI bus and distance

As others have said, 3 to 4 meters distance is too much for SPI but if you use "buffer" chip to improve the wire/cable drive performance and a bit of experimentation you might get it to work in your situation.

TI have a technical note on it:

Re: Is pre-kickcstarter direct solicit appropriate here?

The problem with the Kickstarter approach is that you have to develop a working prototype first. Then you need professional quality pictures and videos. When everything is ready you can ask for the money. You will spend 10 times more work for the Kickstarter campaign than you do for creating the pr...

Re: What controllers y'all using for Retro gaming?

I tend to use wired controllers with the Pi. Mainly with RetroPie. I've had a lot of success with the PS sixaxis controller over USB. I've also hard-wired up both the NES and SNES controllers to the Pi. One of my recent builds, I stuck a Pi Zero in a NES controller case and wired it up. I've also ju...

Re: Putting a Pi Zero inside a SNES Cartridge ..

What would be the best types of file to get to file down the plastic on a SNES cartridge ?. Needle files are usually good for this type of work. A dremel power tool and grinding wheel would also do and be much quicker Also, if you've looked at the link and seen the 4th picture with the Pi Zero inst...

Re: Funduino Joystick Shield V1.A

Connecting the Joystick Shield to the I2C bus won't do anything. The buttons are digital signals and need to be connected to GPIO pins. The joystick produces analogue signals and the RPi doesn't have any analogue inputs so it needs to be connected to a analogue to digital converter (ADC) chip which ...

Re: Midi Baud Rate (31250)

I am also experimenting with the HAT eeprom for forcing non-standard baud rates and move the pins back automatically. My DiscoHAT needs 250k speed from the original UART pins for DMX light control. In theory this should work as a plug-and-play solution. I'd been interested in seeing how you get on....
