Re: Audio Gapless playback on omxplayer xbmc

I actually just tried this on my Pi + Onkyo AV amp for audio playback via raspbmc and am still getting small missing sections of music at the start of each file while the amp negotiates over hdmi. Anyone got any ideas?

Re: RPi for Bose Soundtouch?

Looks like the soundtouch can use upnp\dlna, so I would be looking into minidlna as the server on the pi if I were you.

Re: Audio Gapless playback on omxplayer xbmc

I cant find any reference to this (very useful) option in the config.txt guide here... http://elinux.org/RPiconfig

Perhaps someone with access can update it?

What video format are the channels you want in? Some channels can be MPEG2 and so would need you to buy the codec.

Re: Raspbian + XBMC performance issues

I use...

arm_freq=950
over_voltage=6
force_turbo=1

.. bear in mind this will invalidate your warranty. This disables dynamic overclocking and runs at the set speed all the time. I have tested my pi with up to 1050 without any problems, but my pi runs 24/7 and so I backed off 100mhz just in case.

Re: Raspbian + XBMC performance issues

Mr pi is unstable at 800mhz with no overvolt. If I do an overvolt of 6 I can get it up to 950 which makes a big difference. It doesn't seem to run much hotter either. This video gives a good idea of what is possible under ideal conditions with the new xbmc updates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErWF...

Re: Raspbian + XBMC performance issues

There are a lot of performance tweaks at the moment which are just making it into test builds of openelec and raspbmc, but I suspect the version in the raspbian repo's isn't as up to date as these. Try the latest gotham popcornmix openelec from here... http://netlir.dk/rbej/builds/ or try some new r...

Re: Analog 5.1 sound from RPI

Are you 100% sure your sony dvd 5.1 system can't take an analog or digital input. I know on SOME sony 5.1 systems the optical out turns into an optical-in, and the scart can take an analog-in when the unit it set to "TV". What system do you have?

Re: tvheadend setup issue

Are you talking about setting up tvheadend as a server on a pi with usb dvb attached or are you talking about connecting to a tvheadend server using the tvheadend xbmx addon? Or do you want both server and plugin on the Pi?

Re: Streaming live TV from Satelite set top boxes

Tvheadend client is included with raspbmc and openelec so its up to you which distro you use on the Pi's. It should be as simple as configuring the tvheadend plugin in xbmc to point at your tvheadend server. I have used Ubuntu+tvheadend as a server and xbmc (on PC) successfully in the past, but I ha...

Re: Streaming live TV from Satelite set top boxes

Personally I would be looking at setting up a cheap low spec pc with dvb-s(2?) cards in running tvheadend. I know people have used usb dvb-s cards on Pi's, but personally I would use a regular pc as the server, and let Pi's running xbmc sit in each room handling the user experience. The Pi's could w...

What satellite box do you have?
I am guessing the satellite dish is cabled to your single stb with no other satellite cabling in place?
Do you have another pc or media box close to the satellite box?

Try adding hdmi_force_edid_audio=1 into your config.txt

It might get things working with your amp. You are connecting Pi->Amp->TV right?

Re: Multi-Camera Home Recording Unit

Have you considered what you would DO with these 1080p 30fps feeds? 4 x 1080p feeds per room x (guess) 5 rooms = 20 simultaneous 1080p feeds. Where are these feeds going to be stored. This is going to take A LOT of storage space. If I were you I would be looking at scaling down the resolution consid...

Re: DLNA Streaming?

Yes.. in fact it can act as a both client and server. It can display DLNA content from other servers and also share its own content to others over DLNA. This applies to both vanilla XBMC and on the Pi (they are virtually identical).

Re: 5.1 passthrough over TV without hdmi spliter

I think its unlikely you will solve this. The tv can choose to do whatever it likes to the signal as it passes through. Options are...

1) Live with 2.0 audio
2) Get a HDMI->Spdif splitter\extractor
3) Get a new tv which supports DTS passthrough
4) Get a new amp which supports HDMI

You might find it works 100%, or works with stereo but is silent with DTS, or that it downmixes 5.1 to stereo. Depends on the tv.

XBMC already has a gpu assisted gui so I wouldn't be holding out for any massive improvements if I were you. The limitations are more to do with IO and processor.

Exactly. If you have speakers you want to use with the amp, be sure they are between 6 and 16 ohms. You can start with 2 speaker if you like and the amp will downmix to stereo.

Re: Pi, Projector, Surround Sound?

The only way to do this is with a hdmi equipped av amplifier with hdmi video out, or a hdmi->hdmi and coax\optical audio extractor and a coax\optical equipped av amplifier. In the future this might be easier if omxplayer gets support for usb soundcards with coax\optical, but those are your only opti...
