Re: What software on what platform? A performance issue.

Hi again, I'm reading lots of documentation but I don't get a clear answer of what I should install on my RPI's. For the client, it is straightforward : rasplex from the official site. Which is both the O.S. and the plex client (an overlay over OpenElec and one other over Kodi, as far as I understan...

What software on what platform? A performance issue.

Hi, So I've got some crazy ideas but I'm really not sure if it would be viable or the best set up possible. My question will be, as I'm not confident at all about what I'm trying to do; Do you see any flaw? Do you have any advice? I'll have to read a ton of documentation, so if you think you can spa...

Re: Pi Eating cards

Did you try to access/repair your SD card with some more powerful tool as photorec/testdisk? Photorec is a tool of testdisk, if you're unsure, use photorec as it will never make things worst (it only try to access/address data, never to modify nor repair). When using testdisk, be careful and do only...

Re: My experience so far and should I continue?

Surely this is a problem with any device to which someone has physical access (and the username password to actually log in), not the Pi in particular? I do agree with that statement. I was reacting to : I'll take a shot at some of this.... Here are options I cannot consider : Move raspberry to ano...

Re: My experience so far and should I continue?

Plaintext passwords : Well, I use Pi to automatically send email, wake up network devices, share data via samba, up&download torrent, etc... So if you inspect files onto my SD card, you can find login/password for emails, devices, samba users, µtorrent and associated sites, etc... I understand you c...

Re: My experience so far and should I continue?

Thank you W. H. Heydt, I can only imagine the time you took to formulate that answer. I think I can now apply a suitable solution for each of my problem except maybe for one : I now found how to trigger my resolution problem : I connect my PI to my display, I correctly set it up (overscan, calibrati...

Re: My experience so far and should I continue?

First, davidcoton, thank you for the constructive answer. At that point, you've convinced me raspberry pi 2 will solve/improve the following issue : reactivity fluidity For the BUS problem, I'm surprised, I thought I've read something about RPI 2 using a larger one. I'll do some more research about ...

My experience so far and should I continue?

Hi, I've been using raspberry pi for more than 2 years now. My main uses were HTPC, crash test environment/sandbox (I mean I played with system code) and more generally learning environment (Unix, system x32, network, security, ...). I'm not sure I will continue to use it, it depends on your answers...

Re: PI won't read that SD card

I'm sorry I didn't reply for such a long time but I took for granted my SD Card was corrupted because of my habit to remove the power cord. I should have been more explicit, sorry. Today my second SD card ended up corrupted after I removed the power cord... For my defense, the screen freezed for an ...

Re: can't ssh from local PC

Thank you kind sir.

I solved my problem thank to your answer. As I didn't know exactly how to do it, I found and used this tutorial : http://www.linuxproblem.org/art_9.html (except that I couldn't used ssh so I just used a memory stick to move public key to the host).

Re: PI won't read that SD card

Hi, I did install NOOBS from scratch (on both of them actually), I have the model B Rev2.

I may have the habit to remove the power... I thought it was like that as it doesn't have a power button T_T.

PI won't read that SD card

Hi, I've got a set of two identical SD cards, I've bought them both in the same package. One can be used to boot PI, the other can't. The one that can't could in the past. How can I make the second to boot the PI again? How can I know what prevent Pi to read the card? [Optional] I didn't use my PI f...
