Re: Direct Memory Mapped GPIO driver

"The final step I was missing was the manual modification of the Package.appxmanifest file." That is all in the docs, FAQ here, or on GitHub. And no, if you have not included the library correctly, things will not work as expected. That is the UI driver addition to hook up to the hardware driver ena...

Re: Direct Memory Mapped GPIO driver

You almost certainly have failed to include the Lightning lib as a ref or your library is out of date. That will give the sort of errors you see.

Re: stream video live between 2 RPI2

Well I would base it on a REST webserver supplying anything you need to the other end. Simple to setup and code. Very few extra libraries needed. You can do the REST server in Win32 if that helps because the requirements are very small.

The best place to start is almost certainly the Serial example on GitHub. That does most of what you want for simple serial IO

Re: WebSockets in Windows 10

" But for some methods in W10 only exist async methods. And mixing them results in serious problems." This is Windows 10. async is designed to stop the programmer from locking up the UI. If it worked in Windows 8 or above it will now. Code from before that needs to change. Asking for all the old syn...

I do not know your design requirements. Sockets is one way to go. Simple REST web service may be another. There are many ways to do what you want. Which suits you?

Re: stream video live between 2 RPI2

Treat it like you would any other machine to machine transfer. Only use the libraries that are for 10 IoT if writing code. Otherwise wait for them to catch up. Some are quite slow.

Re: Powering RPi and 12v device with single power cable

Not really. The Pi is 5v so you would need to step down the voltage somehow. Can be done of course it you really need locally to the Pi. All inputs/outputs are at 3.3v so take great care with those.

Re: Uploading AppxBundle to RPi 2

Ooopps. Sorry. OK. So to create and appx bundle which includes an appx and a cer you need to use the Project/Store/Create Appx Bundles (or whatever - I am not at a PC that I can check at present) Menu item. Then choose 'No' and next Then choose 'Always' and next When it completes you will have the a...

Re: Uploading AppxBundle to RPi 2

Yep, Appx (and cer) are great. Limitations include Must build appx though the Project/Store menu item Select No for the Store Must select 'always' for appx build Certs are only valid as a test cert for 12 months. Nothing longer is possible at present. Security validating the appx/cer bundle is on a ...

Re: Win10 iot or not?

Good news that you have found a solution you re comfortable with. Of course, I am in the privileged position of it just being a load, hit build and run. From 10240 onwards. Of course there were rounds and rounds of installs, re-installs, etc. especially round the leaked 0586. I am just a little bit ...

Re: What kinda content is the community hungry for?

Well I would put together a video that highlights at least in passing the three areas I mentioned. Re: What kinda content is the community hungry for?

Great idea. Can you find a sponsor to do some of the costs? There is a mine of information on Windows 10 IoT over on GitHub, Channel 9, Hackster.io that would make a great video. You could try and make a pitch to MS for some sponsorship if nowhere else. I'll see what I have in the FAQ that might for...

Make sure you enable the Pi firewall to allow you network traffic through. Most of what you need is probably in the FAQ. If it is not there I'll try and extend it to included any answers you need.

Have a good New Year

Do you want sockets themselves or will an HTTPClient work for what you plan? EDIT: I see you said serve not read, HTTPClient is not suitable for that. Both are supported, in different classes which work in all the UWP languages, C#, JavaScript, etc.. https://github.com/Microsoft/Windows-universal-sa...

I would prefer a selective quote button as otherwise things get too big to read, especially when only adding a single sentence. It's not exactly difficult to hit Reply, then select some text and press Quote. Or to quote the whole post and remove the bits you are not replying to. It is just easier t...

Also, I don't brag about my Z180 assembler experience. It is all too long ago and was until recently (2006) not something I could mention. I gave up on big sigs long, long ago. Very childish now when a url link can do the same
