Any UWP application can only access files in its own local storage tree (and the well know libraries for shared files). To go beyond that will require writing in Win32. In my opinion MS have done a great job on the product. They are re-selling the Raspberry Pi hardware through their own ecommerce sites. They are continually responding to requests, advice, improvements, examples, code, tools, support. I mean, what more do you want?

I suppose it is the subtle distinction between a screen (which IoT does have) and the concept of multiple screens only one of which is front (which IoT does NOT have). Remote desktop is not possible (at this time anyway) on Windows 10 Core IoT

The usual comment from Linux applies here. Check your power supplies. Unless (and even if ) you BSOD IoT the card will not suffer any problems in the same way that Linux does not suffer any problems and for the same reasons. The hardware is identical.

I have 5 Raspberry Pi 2 devices which were running Windows IoT (10.0.10586.0). When 10.0.10586.63 came out via Windows Update, of the 5 which tried updating to .63, one of them consistently fails to apply the update successfully. Hmm. I gave my previous response as a 'hail mary' because nothing else was working on the MS IoT site on the same question and it worked there. But then again, no clue really if it will work for you.

There is an MS api to call Win32 from C# that handles all the piping to and from. I'll try and see if I can find the ref
