Get Notified on New Version Released

If there a Mailing List or Forum thread to subscribe to that will notify me when a new Raspbian version is released?
Sure, I can check the web site Downloads every day, but... I'm lazy.
Looked around already and couldn't find anything like that.
Thanks.

Wishing for a Raspberry Pi Zero Christmas

I watched the video interview of Eben Upton covering the new Raspberry Pi 3 and greatly appreciate how quickly the new RPi has been distributed and stocked around the world - including here in Shanghai where it is already for sale and in stock are very reasonable prices (around 250-280¥, or ~$40USD)...

Re: Jessie Lite Release Date & SHA-1 Don't Match

Thanks!
Always want to make sure I'm getting the latest build! :)
P.S. Might want to mention on the Download page that the SHA-1 is for the ZIP and not the IMG file.
Personally, I'd prefer the SHA-1 for the IMG file - but that's just me.

Re: Wechat client?

Yeah, I think I was too specific on my needs. I want to send an instant message/notification to my Android phone from my Pi on movement detection. I specified WeChat because it is the most popular, allowed, messaging service where I live. So basically any service that is not blocked in China (like T...

Wechat client?

Anyone know of a WeChat client that runs under Raspbian? I'm trying to build a motion detector for my home that will send a WeChat message to me if it senses motion. Email is too slow and SMS messages over free services are not available where I live. And I don't want to use a monitoring service due...

Pi Zero No Data through Power Port

First, let me say I think the Pi Zero is an excellent board, the price/performance point is incredible (if I could find one to buy). But I think the lack of data on the power port is kinda sad. After all, it has only two USB ports on it and only one can do data. If the Power Port also did data, it w...

Re: OpenVPN Server & Client across NATs

I'll take a look at freelan. I don't have a public server capable of running N2N Service. The Server is mine, the remote site is not. So access to the Router's Static IP and Static Port Mappings is not possible. The VPS services I've found are expensive for my non-existent budget. Thanks for your re...

OpenVPN Server & Client across NATs

I hope this is the right forum for this post. If not, I will remove/move it. I have an OpenVPN/SSL RPi Server on one home network behind a Router/NAT and another OpenVPN/SSL RPi Client on another Router/NAT. They both use Port Mapping via UPnP to connect to each other over the Internet. I'm looking ...

Re: P2P Access to RPi over Internet

Thank you karrika for your reply! So it does require a server somewhere to make the connection. I was afraid of that. With more and more Routers not supporting UPnP due to security concerns, its getting harder to access IoT devices without some corporate entity (another security concern). Perhaps IP...

Thanks everyone! I disabled booting to the GUI as suggested. Lite faster than Full version?

Here's a really basic question. Is the Lite version of Raspbian faster than the full version? In other words, if I'm running a process, a script, or a package like OpenVPN, is it going to run faster on the same model Pi with the Lite version vs. the Full version? Or does all that extra stuff in the ...

P2P Access to RPi over Internet

Ok, this is a real Newbie question. I don't even know what I don't know. So I may not be even asking a valid question. Can the RPi be set up to use P2P (instead of Port Forwarding) to connect to it over the Internet via SSH, SSL, OpenVPN, etc? I see security cameras that use P2P for direct access ov...

Well, the problem wasn't with Jessie or anything on the server. I had such a hard time trying to get OpenVPN to autostart on boot in Jessie that I thought something was different with stunnel as well. Turned out, the problem was on the client side. I forgot to add this route command to the client co...

I have two seemingly identically set up RPi's. One is Wheezy and the other is Jessie. Both have OpenVPN Server and stunnel4 installed and configured - identically. Wheezy works great. Connect with stunnel client on my Android with SSLDroid and OpenVPN for Android and data flows like it should. Jessi...

Re: Raspbian Jessie zip appears corrupt

Thanks everyone!
I got 7zip and it unarchived just fine. I'll watch out for this with Windows and other large zip files.
The SHA-1 checksum does indeed match after all.
Glad I wasn't totally loosing my mind.
FYI: I use HashCheck Shell Extension to generate checksums: http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/
