<t>Thanks for posting the link!  Yes, you're right, it's in that Github repository.  Click Downloads and you should see it.<br/> <br/> If you grab the repository at the moment, you will still get the old placeholder player model.  You'll be able to see it, but obviously it's just a proof of concept ...

Re: R-Pi Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG)

I've been having a bit of trouble posting; the forum doesn't seem to like my link.  So, if you happen to be running Ubuntu Precise 64 bit, you might find that my build of Panda works for you.  I can't link to it, but hunt around on the Github page and you'll probably find it.

Re: R-Pi Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG)

<t>Don't forget also that Panda doesn't require Python bindings to OpenGL.  All it needs is the C library that provides the standard OpenGL function calls.  This is because the bottom layer of Panda is written in C++ anyway—the Python stuff is a thin layer on top that makes the high level game progr...

<t>Hi Jim,<br/> <br/> Are you determined to use OpenGL directly, rather than going through something like Panda?  From where I'm sitting, writing a multi-player game looks like a very ambitious project, and writing a game library at the same time only makes it more difficult.  I also don't think you...

Re: R-Pi Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG)

Yes it was a tough choice between Panda3D and jMonkeyEngine.  Ultimately I went for Panda simply because it is finished.  Monkey had a series of stable 2.x releases, but now it seems to be getting a complete rewrite, and the rewritten version is still beta.

I've pushed some more revisions to Github.  If you connect to the game twice, the characters can now see each other!  (They start in exactly the same spot, though, so you won't see anything until one of the characters walks forward or backward.)
