Rather than risk damaging a long ribbon cable, I'm using an HDMI cable with adapters at either end ... seems safer to me.

Re: RaspberryPi Camera for Astrophotography

Gordon,

Physical pin numbers for the 5 in my scope; gotcha :D

As I'm not triggering a DSLR, I don't need the other options on my board.

Re: RaspberryPi Camera for Astrophotography

John,

Check eBay or Amazon for the connector I was on about above ... they're about £4; any more 7 you're being ripped off ;) The webcam adapter screws into that.

Re: RaspberryPi Camera for Astrophotography

Hi, I'm in the (slow !) process of setting up; you can get a suitable ILQ74 from Maplins (I know ... but RS are expensive for these for some daft reason  ) - Gordon quoted the Maplins code some pages back (unless you get the component expert of the shop, don't ask for an ILQ74 - you'll only co...

I didn't get anything ! Just a big black box instead of the interface ...

Hence I had a look at this config & changed that parameter - and bingo :D

Re: RaspberryPi Camera for Astrophotography

Gordon, Do you have 2 settings conflicting here ? # if using the RPi camera set use_Pi_Cam = 1 , if set to 0 the program will use a USB camera. use_Pi_Cam = 1 # if using the RPi.GPIO on the Pi set use_RPiGPIO = 1, not required if only using the DSLR GPIO O/P (photoon = 1). use_RPiGPIO = 1 # to enabl...

Various things ... the long-hold-down on the touchscreen for the right-click no longer works; VNC won't start automatically (although I fixed an error box on a manual start - they've gone & changed the descriptor text  ); various other bits & pieces that I use & require; seems I have intermitt...

Hmmm - just added this to Jessie, but it seems not to work ?

Anyone got a working right-click on the touchscreen with Jessie ?

Re: Jessie Q&A

Just upgraded (new install on new SD card), and installed TightVNC, following AdaFruit's Lesson 7. However - despite putting an autostart script in for VNC, I find it (mostly) won't ? Occasionally, it does start (once every 5-6 restarts ? but no more), meaning I almost always need to SSH & start it ...

Classic camera or NoIR ?

Hi, I'm putting together an astronomy-based Pi system, and am just about at the point of wanting the camera. So my question is : what is the recommendation for use attached to a 'scope ? Initial use will be as a collimation aid (so will be on the main scope to help on that front), but longer term wi...

Re: RaspberryPi Camera for Astrophotography

@Dougie, Yes I know; it's on my list of things to get / fix. As it doesn't actually hurt anything (at least, I've not seen anything posted here to the contrary), it's not top of the list; but once I get a camera module a better supply will likely be bought @ the same time. @Gordon, Cheers for that; ...

You see what I mean - the black bar down the right side ? If I set to 608, then while it fits across the bar has the close icon truncated to the right. It seems that the buttons are around 8 pixels further left than the edge of the window ?

Re: RaspberryPi Camera for Astrophotography

Tried with 608 - there's a cut-off on the 'close' box; nothing stopping it from working, but it doesn't look as nice as it could ... so leaving it at 600.

Any thoughts on what setting needs the 8 pixels subtracting from it to line the icons along the right-hand side of the window ?

Screen resolution query

Hi, Been trying to get an app to play nicely with my Pi2 & official touchscreen, and have wandered into the Display Settings area of Preferences. I'm a little surprised not to see the quoted resolution, but instead am told it's 752x448 :o Is this right ? Surely my Pi has (somehow) managed to not go ...

Re: RaspberryPi Camera for Astrophotography

With Image_width = 0, I get the buttons at the bottom - depth of 5 via VNC but I lose the bottom 2 rows on the screen

Image_width = 1 gives the same  No discernible difference
