Re: Lowest Profile SO-DIMM Socket

Thickness of an SO-DIMM module can be 3.8mm (max), as the PCB is 1mm it an be 1.8mm on each side (max).

Lowest socket I'm aware of is 4mm stacking height: https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-292406-4.html

Re: Raspberry Pi Touch Screen instead of Monitor

What is OPs understanding of a 'monitor', 'display' and 'touch screen'? The official DSI 7in is a display which has a touch screen attached to it. It connects via DSI to your Raspberry and allows you to use it a the sole 'monitor'. If you want to connect a HDMI monitor in addition you can do this on...

Re: Pointer is jumping 7"touch

Sounds to me like a touch problem and not not driver related (in case you continue using the stock ones).
Get in touch with newhaven display and ask if their product was tested on RPI.

another possible root cause can be impropper grounding between your touch display and Rpi host.

Re: Viewing my Camera and controlling it through the Raspberry Pi 3B+

Nikon once released an SDK which allows controlling their cameras (shutter, aperture, other settings, ..) via wifi. For some models its also possible to stream viewfinder to another device (life preview).

Find more information on that first and check if your camera is supporting such features.

Same Pi version, same OS (make a test swapping the uSD between both systems)?

Take note of the undervoltage warning (yellow flash) on the system with squeeced image. How do you power your systems.

Re: Using Dual Monitors with my Raspberry Pi 3B+

The Rpi3 is basically able to support dual display but the GPU is limited to 2048x2048pixels when using the FMKS driver. With the legacy driver (no HW acceleration) you can have more i.e. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=246384&p=1504644&hilit=Dual+framebuffer#p1504551 or http...

If you're using OMXplayer then you need to aim for a different player as it can only handle FHD.

Re: PI 4 Compute module with pci-e?

Just so people don't keep writing stuff that will have no impact, I think I can say that a future CM4 form factor and connection system is already decided on. Cannot tell you any more than that, but suggestions made now are unlikely to be acted upon. Can this be read like: YES! There will be a CM4 ...

Re: Compute Module RUN pin

I have no idea on your design, but if there would be the need for me to 'disconnect power' I would do this on the PMIC by using it's enable signal.
This will then really switch of power

Anyhow, holding the device in reset for a longer periid shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Pi4 dual screen: window span over both screens by cmdline?

I assume you tried from console and not X11. There is only one framebuffer (/dev/fb0) when both HDMI displays are connected. And when booting into console mode I see the same console output on both. So what you want is not possible in console mode, you need X11. I switched to boot into X11, and her...

Re: Display switch

Ribbon cable display means official 7in DSI display?

You will have to reboot whenever you want to shut it off, because the DSI interface is only checked/initialized at boot.

Are you using fkms-driver on the RPI3 or do you want to use legacy driver with two displays?

DSI and CSI should work out of the box on a standard Pi when camera is enabled (i.a. Via Raspberry Configuration).
So: which camera do you have?
