Re: Will there be a Devuan port for RPi1?

K, I believe the question here is, on ARM v6, not "does it do what you want", but "does it run systemd or not". These are different things. @Aydan I believe the solution you are looking for is ViodLinux, which has Pi arm6 sdcard image. As bonus it is said to be super quick, and super lite (example, ...

Ok, I maybe not read that, definately did not follow originally. ..I've been logging in as root for 20 years and never had a problem (or using regedit in Windows). But I'm careful, experienced, and eventually my job involved that so you could say I was a professional (retired now).. This I understan...

Re: Wi-Fi troubles?

It is interesting idea Dougie (as most of ur posts are) but unless you have "different OS" for some reason (as I do) it is simply pain-in-bottom-of-the-curry-type-extreme to do that way, unless you use an USB stick for /home/_user_/ that is. The /etc/network/interfaces by @rpdom is pretty much what ...

post result of ur /etc/network/interfaces if you could, I would be interested to see, as I have had issues with sd-card images that have previously been set up for wifi, but also run a "persistant rule" in UDEV config dir (most installs do not have this). Glad wpa-gui fixed it for you, it was how I ...

good suggestion @pi-anazazi but I think this is not the issue, however it maybe worth checking anyway. you are right @Solannis I dont know why you would need to ssh to Mac, when you are not using ssl connections, but it simplifies things if you are. The reason I mention "step-by-step" is that one of...

I dont like getting into slanging match, it wastes valuable dev time, time that could be spent fixing the problem instead of allowing people to promote the idea "there is no bug". This OpenBox issue has been non-exsistant in Raspian, Wheezy & Jessie, since I have been using my Pi's from 2012. It IS ...

you should be able to see if motioneye is running with: ps -e| grep motioneye it will come back with process id (number) if it got found If your "startx" does not work after a "sudo startx" (which you should not do), then some files may be "root:root" ownership. these are usually temp files, and can...

in /boot/config.txt I use the following, and never have problems (pi used to sometimes want to use external spkr out otherwise)

Code: Select all

hdmi_drive=2
That works for me on old HDMI + 2x new HDMI

Re: can problem

according to the tut link it is now working, if you have "can0" under spi devices, AND you have "can0" in ifconfig. You can now use "cansend" and "candump" (like in tut), check with "USBtin Viewer" app (also like in tut) doulble check /etc/network/interfaces for "can0" line (like at end of tut) Paul

How did you connect to ur Pi's the first time, did u use ssh at anypoint, if so, then it maybe related to "trusted" connection Are ur 2x Pi copy of same sdcard. if IP tables is not setup (default install) that should not effect it. (thats ".. without pi user") If your OS uses Jessie (systemd based), does not have pi user, or uses autologin to run an app (like Amibian), the latest (September) update will break that setup.
