My only point is: try the thing before saying it's slow / or fast / or buggy / or unusable / or great / or whatever. Its all I ask :) I'm looking forward to doing exactly that. The only Windows only program I would like to have on other platform is LTSpice" https://www.analog.com/en/design-cen...

Re: Finally! Running Eagle CAD on RPi

My only nitpick is with the idea of comparing to "native" performance. What does that even mean? We can't compare the emulation to running Eagle, for example, compiled as a native ARM binary. There is no such thing. Ok, fair enough. On the other hand, who cares? The fact that it can be ma...

even a just in time code converter (dynamic recompilation) is MUCH slower than running on real hardware, real time dynamic recompilation costs a lot of time, there is just no way around this basic FACT! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_recompilation no hate for emulators, just dislike for peop...

Re: Finally! Running Eagle CAD on RPi

Also talking of an emulator having "native" performance make no sense. Why is that? The concept of Dynarec is there to convert code to native code, so it's not emulated anymore, it's converted native. Depending on the efficiancy of the JIT/Dynarec use (and if the code is static or dynamic...

On the Discord server, user Chill indicated he got the text using a Wine 5.13 staging. I haven't followed up but you should dig (or come back there)

Re: Pi powered zoom machine help

How did you install zom and box86?

If box86 is installed correctly, it should be transparent and just qick in when trying to launch zoom.

Launching zoom is like

Code: Select all

./zoom
or if box86 is not integrated in the system:

Code: Select all

/PATH/TO/box86 ./zoom

Re: Has anyone ever made a Linux/RPI port of Touhou 6?

I really don't think the 1Gb RAM is an issue here. I did notice the text get garbled in the middle on level2 and then level 3. But I think the mesa driver I was using (old 19.3) was the issue here, as I got a wine d3d error (and the game froze) near the end on level 3. I use latest box86. If you wan...

I'm not sure Raspberrypi OS mesa driver has support for S3TC texture, that's an important part for DirectX game.

Also, if you try there, use `setarch linux32 -L ~/wine/bin/wine` to launch wine. Good luck, I cannot help you more here.

Re: Has anyone ever made a Linux/RPI port of Touhou 6?

I haven't exeprience the text glitches issues. I used a version from an abandonware site for a quick test, and there was some English patch pre-applied, so that may explain why. Don't forget the mesa opengl driver can also influence your result. It's custom build version on twisteros for example, co...

Re: Has anyone ever made a Linux/RPI port of Touhou 6?

Did you launch it with box86 directly? Or did you use Wine normally? Also, it seems to not be loading MSXML3.DLL for some reason. I used wine, wich use box86. The wine that is in TwisterOS is an x86 version of Wine, and it needs box86 tu run. Box86 is launched transparently as soon as an x86 progra...

Re: Has anyone ever made a Linux/RPI port of Touhou 6?

I launche Touhou 6 (with english patch) using latest box86. I could finish level 1 and to go to level 2 with no issue. Not a single crash. Not sure if the 1Gb of memory could be the issue, or if it's newer box86 version that fixed the problem. If you are not sure, you can always create a small swapf...

Already fixed it. Turns out I was trying to run it with qemu-system-x86_64 instead of i386 which Win98 runs on. Incompatibility. Don't you just love that? Also, I'm not using box86. It's too slow, and takes up too much memory. How? I have no idea. Welp, back to suffering in Linux! Box86 is too slow...

It's a crash, not much to say about it.

I'll try touhou 6 on pi4 with twisteros / box86 this weekend, see what I found (on a 4Gb Pi4, but I don't think that changes much for that game)

How would I do a PlayOnLinux build for Touhou?
I just suggested you changed wine binary, with one from here: https://www.playonlinux.com/wine/binari ... linux-x86/
If you are not comfortable with the switch, just don't do it.

Should I update Wine as well?
That's always a bit more complicated. I got good result with upstream 5.18 from PlayOnLinux builds, but box86 should be enough.

Your box86 is bit old. Try to update it, it should work better.
Also, be aware that there may be a slight issue with the mesa driver in TwisterOS (even in 1.9.1). It's beeing worked on, stay tuned.

About box86, installed through pi apps, is there some kind of list of what games are working on it, because i did a short search, and couldn't find anything? Not really, because there are too many games (and version). But You can find some tiny list here: https://github.com/ptitSeb/box86-compatibil...

Your best option is to install binfmt-support, qemu-user-static and Wine and/or Mono (if it's a .NET program) You can even configure binfmt to automatically use Wine or Mono and chmod +x your executable. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binfmt_misc section Common Usage. It's not necessarily fast...

Your best bet is an upgrade to TwisterOS which includes some stuff for running X86 crap programs with a slower emulator than Exagear's. My emulator is open source, so maybe it is slower now, but you can help make it faster. (I also wonder from what benchmark you base your assumption that box86 is s...

Re: Cannot install Steam on Pi 4 or 3B+

Maybe do `sudo install libappindicator1` if you are on regular RaspberryPI OS.
Also, "Among Us" require DirectX 10 (or 11?, don't remember), so it will not work with the opengl 2.1 driver of the PI. And the Vulkan driver is not stable enough to be used with DxVK. So for now, it's no go.

There is absolutly no reason why installing Zoom would remove GIMP. That need to be fixex on PI-Apps side! For the sound, I noticed you are missing "pactl", wich comes with PulseAudio. Try to install it (I don't remember the package, but just typing the name on a console should give an hin...
