Re: Sunday Brunch Show, UK Channel 4, Sunday May 27

I watched from my PVR. Just over a minute interview of Eben, the rest of the program was erm, daytime viewing fodder, to put it politely. "Can we get the Logo off now" was rather poor end to the very short interview. Like someone said, maybe liz would get more airtime on this type of program. Not t...

Re: Debiting credit card when there's no stock

I must admit to being a bit miffed by this approach too. I received my invitation at the end of last week and promptly made my order (#213xx). I was informed of a 4 week expected dispatch delay, but my credit card was debited almost instantly. Me too - 236xx. Unless that 4 weeks is wrong this ain't...

Back in the UK I managed to grab the red card out of the Postmans hand before he had completed pushing it though the letterbox......he tried to run away, too.

Re: Raspberry Pi emulating an IBM mainframe.

Brings back a few memories. In the 80s I was Network Support manager for an actuary and when not going around installing IRMA cards in XTs & ATs, making token ring cables, converting floppies from 8" to 5.25" or faffing around with Displaywrite 3 (and yelling at secrataries for stapling floppies to...

I like the new layout (switched to Prosilver) and the general feel is pretty good. :) As I can't go back to prove it - are links to external pages now only opened in the same browser tab? I seem to remember they opened in a different tab on the old forum (HTML "Target=erewhon") Firefox 12 on Win 7....

Re: Raspberry Pi emulating an IBM mainframe.

Interesting! VM/CMS? Excellent operating system, so if I can find a copy of BT's Monitor operating system somewhere I can run a copy of Cable Drum Control or Told - not sure if it will support 900 users with a 2 second response time....hee hee. But - having been involved in the ESP for the 4361 I'd ...

I was lucky enough to be taught Physics by one of the original Boffins.  Best A-Level result I got!!  (If you're wondering when - 1965!)

We did have one chap building his own radio telescope (aged 14) - Geek, Nerd etc were not invented at that time??
