The other possibility is: How is the RPI connected to your network? Directly to a router, or a router then a switch ... etc?

Re: Learn C or Python first?

I started with Fortran 77 (anyone remembers that?) then moved onto C (Kernighan & Ritchie), then Visual C++, and ultimately I ended up using Matlab more than any others (for work). At home (hobby), it's primarily C (Arduino) and Python (RPI). Now, as others have said on here, C is a very 'low-level'...

RPI 3B WIFI - Dual Band or Not?

I have an RPI3 3B running OSMC, and a dual band WIFI network at home (2.4 and 5.0 GHz). Now, when I use the on-board WIFI, my RPI detects ONLY the 2.4 GHz network. When I use an external/USB WIFI dongle, I can see both 2.4/5.0 GHz networks. Is this normal? Is the RPI 3B only capable of running 2.4 G...

Re: Stereo Camera at pixel level and beyond...

Thank You. From running quickly through the thread/posts, the implementation still requires the compute module, correct?

I was hoping there was a way to run 2 RPI zeros each with its own camera, and then somehow syncing them.

Sorry to revive an old thread but very curious as to any recent/promising developments for the activities herein.

Update, anyone?

Been searching a bit more, and I found the link below. This is what I had in mind of doing, hopefully with 6x RPI Zeros. http://www.sphericam.com/360-videos/ Note: While you're watching the youtube videos, make sure you click in the middle and drag, to change which direction/perspective you're looki...

Re: 3D video with 2 cameras

Thank You. That post is rather 'old' (Nov 2014) and I was hoping there'll be something newer out there, especially that the new RPI camera has now higher resolution (similar to that described in the thread). Now, my plan was to start with 2 cameras (because I have 2) and if that works, extend to mul...

Re: 3D video with 2 cameras

Are you planning on capturing a single image, or motion video? Real time or recorded for later playback? I'm really after two main projects: 1. Actual Stereo/3D video 2. Spherical Panoramas - either static (photos) or video. For #2, the idea is to take a picture with several cameras at once. There ...

GPS Tracking for DJI Drone

Like many around the world, I got a DJI phantom drone and interested in building a GPS tracker. There are commercial solutions available but those use some paid subscription model. My thinking is to link the GPS tracker to a WIFI (xfinity) and operate only in areas where there is coverage. For paid ...

3D video with 2 cameras

I'm contemplating building a 3D camera with 1/2 RPIs. The small size factor of the PI camera is very appealing here, but each RPI board can accommodate/connect to only one camera. Of curse, one can use 2 RPIs (zeros?) and somehow sync them. Anyone gave this some thought? Better yet, you know of any ...

Re: Just out of curiosity, what x86 is RPi3 equivalent.

Rather than going into all the reasons as to why a comparison is meaningful or not, we need to try and understand the question form the OP. I must admit it is a very legitimate question. The computers around us are 'replete' (full) of metrics that help us assess the performance(s) of machines we use...

GeoTagging of Smartphone WIFI/GPS

There are many cameras (DSLRs and others) that now offer WIFI via either built-in means or as add-on accessories. Yet, very few cameras offer native/built-in GeoTagging. There are some options to buy GPS units for DSLRs, but the good units are typically very expensive. Hence, the reason behind this ...

Re: Micro Center "Progressive" PI Zero Pricing

Stopped by Micro-Center yesterday (Westmont, IL) and got one RPI Zero ... then asked one of the sales-people for more details, and his reply was that this was a 'temporary' promotion, and that it won't last. Again, as others have said, this is a clever mean to get more people to the store and have t...

GeoTagger for Nikon DSLR - ?

This project has been on my mind for a while and yes, there are commercial options available. Then, where's the fun in that? I'm hoping to do this with an RPI Zero + GPS sensor, and already got the components. So, I'm thinking the following (after some reading of course). 1. Figure out how the GPS s...

PI Zero Pricing at MicroCenter

I just received an email from Micro-Center and apparently they've changed their pricing on the Pi Zero. If you buy only one, it's $0.99, if you buy more, it's more expensive. Anyone knows if this is an initiative of the RPI Foundation or if Micro-Center trying to get people to visit as many times as...

Re: VLC on the RPI3 - 3D Anaglyph?

The movie IS already in anaglyph format. On VLC it does show as two images superimposed (as it should) that become 3D once you wear the red/blue glasses. On Kodi however, it shows as two images side-by-side. I was hoping that, like VLC, Kodi can superimpose/interlace the two pictures but could not ...

Re: VLC on the RPI3 - 3D Anaglyph?

Reading online, it says you need a 3d TV and then enable that option on the TV. Not always. If I connect the output of my computer to my TV via HDMI, and enable the 3D option in VLC, I can see the movie in 3D no problem while wearing the red/blue glasses, and this with a TV that is NOT 3D. You can ...

VLC on the RPI3 - 3D Anaglyph?

I did some reading and so far I've come up with this:

1. KODI/OSMC does NOT support 3D anaglyph movies (red/blue glasses)
2. VLC does, at least on the windows version I'm using.

Hence the question:

3. Can one install/use VLC on the RPI3 and use the 3D anaglyph option?

Thanks,
JB

Re: LegoWeDo 2.0

I'm afraid I have no idea at all about using BT for this; I don't have any WeDo to do any sort of testing. First thing would be to make sure it works in whatever the 'norma' way is. The code is all there and should work as well as it ever did - in fact I don't think anything at all has been changed...

My RPIs 2/3 always reconnect to the latest WIFI they were connected to. In my specific case, WIFI is provided by an iPad's hotspot. No need for any special configuration.
