Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

I may be wrong but I am not convinced Microsoft see the Pi as an IoT end-device in itself but it is an ideal platform for developing and experimenting with IoT end-device code. I think they mention in multiple places that the Pi as a target is for makers and hobbyists. The SD-as-a-main-drive is eno...

Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

I absolutely agree. I don't see why a downloadable image could not be made available, don't see why anyone has to sign-up for anything, don't see why it is restricted to the Pi 2, or was intended to require Windows 10 desktop OS and tools to be installed to use it. I installed Rapsbian by... gasp: ...

Re: Using SQLite in Windows 10 IoT Core Insider Preview

Wow, sorry for using the wrong words. It is part refactoring and part re-coding in C#. It will be sort-of OO like the original code but not likely to suit the crowd here. I will be sure NOT to share the results here, the nitpicking would take too much effort to deal with and frankly not worth my whi...

Excellent write up, thank you!

I'll be needing this 'real soon now' once I finish refactoring a ton of c code to C#.

You should look at the docs and source in the toolkit. And read up on Alljoyn at allseen.org

Re: ZWave

A bit longer answer, If you want to add switches etc to a Zwave network, you just add them. The app and drivers etc from the source code should do the heavy lifting for you. If you want to write an app that talks Zwave, then you can do that in the language of your choice (VB or C++ or C#) by interfa...

You will need to figure out which dll's to use from that set up. The dll's don't care what language you are using as long as it is a managed language. So use what you are comfortable with.

GerritV, What is about routers that they seem to be universally unreliable? Luckily I found I could flash the three routers here with OpenWRT and they have been stable ever since. I'm still wondering what an "IoT device" is. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/science-news/6156291/The-house-that-Twitters.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9nrm8q5eGg Dr. Stanford-Clark has things like mouse traps that send an alert to his phone when they trap a victim. I'm still wondering what an "IoT device" is. On the one side we have a "thing", say my coffee mug. On the other side we have The Internet. In between we can imagine some sensors, the temperature and amount of coffee in my coffee mug. And some means of getting sensor data out onto the net. Basically...

There is a utility called devcon.exe on WinIoT. It can provide a lot of detail about peripherals, what drivers the are using etc.

Log in with powershell, devcon.exe help lists the commands, devcon help <command> gives details of <command>

Re: LibUSB/WinUSB support?

It looks like you will need to provide that dll as part of your app.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusbdotnet/ uses WinUsb.sys whichmight not be is present on IoT. IoT uses usbser.sys instead.

There is still work being done on Core so things could/will change by the time IoT goes RTM.
