I'm waiting for RPi. I have a microSD with adapter of 1GB of a smartphone.
Will it work in RPi? Is 1GB sufficient card size?
I want use a pendrive for /home. Is it possible?

I have received a ticket of RS-Components to buy the RPi. They offer me a SD card of 4GB and class 6.
Is it possible use a SD card of class 8 or 10 and more capacity?

there are power supplies with several outputs of 5V and 1A.

If you will have the RPi and the USB hab near, you can use that power supply and join the cables.
