Re: How to capture video from Terratec Grabby (v4l2)

"I'll dig out my two emx28xx devices for comparison later. " It'll be very interesting to see how you get on. Yeah, I'm now wondering if the emm28xx driver issue has been sorted since I last tested an em28xx device. One more question. When you view using guvcview what is the resolution you are gett...

Re: Can't SSH In

Yes, it is the Pi we're connecting to. I guess I need to turn on some logging on the Pi to see why it is rejecting some requests. Any thoughts on doing that and what to turn on? I would have suggested auth.log as previously suggested by rpdom. Have you tried using dmesg to see it the output from it...

Re: How to capture video from Terratec Grabby (v4l2)

VS-USB2800D is the model number. HTH. Thanks, I've found it now. Can you post the output from dmesg that you get for the device when you plug it in? I'm intrigued that you've finally got a em28xx device to work :-) The dmesg output should give more details on the em28xx configuration details being ...

Re: Can't SSH In

I guess I'm not sure what that is telling me about why the Pi disconnected the session. I ran the sniffer from my PC and it connects and this is disconnected. But the reason why the Pi disconnected is only known to the Pi so far. I'm at a loss on what to look at here to try and find out why the Pi ...

Re: Cannot send mail with SMTP: SMTP AUTH extension not supp

Thanks! That worked (using 'smtpauth.earthlink.net'). I tried using just 'smtp.earthlink.net' since that is what Mail on my iMac uses. Yeah, some ISP's automatically authenticate based on your IP address ,without using SMTP authentication, when you send from a device on their network. Most ISPs hav...

I forgot to mention, in my reply I assumed that earthlink is your ISP. If it isn't then you should be using the outgoing SMTP email settings for your ISP.

smtplib.SMTPException: SMTP AUTH extension not supported by server. It looks like the SMTP server you are trying to use doesn't support SMTP Authentication I had a quick look at earthlink's email settings here: http://support.earthlink.net/articles/email/earthlink-email-faq.php So try replacing: s ...

Re: Can't SSH In

Port 22 is the port we 're using and it is forwarded to the LAN IP for the Pi. We can access the Pi from one PC at my brother's house which is in a different location. This means that at least one machine is able to get in and port forwarding is working. No obvious reason for the behaviour you are ...

Re: Hardware accelerated codec for web video

Maybe I am showing my ignorance here, but isn't the purpose of GStreamer to abstract the application from the specific codec? Yes, to some extent, however the gst-OMX plugin is relatively new and I wouldn't expect it to be fully integrated into the framework at this stage. So what you will probably...

Re: Hardware accelerated codec for web video

Hi all, Am I correct in my understanding that if I compile the latest libwebkit and then Midori then I will be able to play back h.264 HTML5 web videos? It's probably not going to be quite as simple as that. Firstly you would need to get libwebkit to work with GStreamer 1.0. This may not be a simpl...

I'm having this same issue... Really need to figure out why xvimagesink isn't working correctly from the plugins base set. I haven't experimented with the C920 since last year, but the sink that worked for me then was fbdevsink. The xvimagesink is an xwindows based sink and isn't really suitable fo...

Re: Static vs Dynamic Mac Address

You seem to be confusing a MAC with an IP address. Domestic routers usually assign IP addresses to connected subordinates via a method called DHCP. I'm not aware of any which hand out MACs to connected subordinates. Yeah, to further clarify, It is the MAC address of the network interface on the dev...

How is the raspi-config menu system made? What language is used and how would I make a menu system like it? :?: You can view the source of raspi-config in /usr/bin/raspi-config.
