Re: Best way to order? (RS) (INDIA)

Since you've already ordered, it'd be great if you could post some results of multiple things(hdds and wifi) working together on that hub?

besides my pi is still 2-3 weeks away..

Re: Best way to order? (RS) (INDIA)

Great! Thanks.
I'll order one now and another one from element14 when they're available. :P

On side note, what easily available cheap powered hub would you recommend (at least 4 port) ?
#2 are hdmi->dvi cables available here in India? :?:

Thanks again for the swift replies! :D

Re: Best way to order? (RS) (INDIA)

The code you got from RS, can be used only on the UK site and you will most likely be charged close to INR 1000 as duty and DHL handling fee. element14 and RS are two different companies, so you can't use the RS invite to order from element14. AFAIK, element14 has stopped taking new orders until th...

Best way to order? (RS) (INDIA)

Hi, I got an email from RS last week saying I could now order my Pi. However, seeing people unhappy with the way they're being charged a LOT for customs/duty/tax/delivery/handling etc., I want to ask of a way to use that code in the email from RS and get my Pi delivered in India. Main issues: 1. The...

Re: H/W accelerated video? (other than H264)

Thanks for the replies. Let's hope for the best. If the foundation manages to buy more codecs then would they be only for the new boards with some new "firmware" or would they also be compatible/available to previously sold devices as well? I guess it would be futile asking for an ETA for such decis...

H/W accelerated video? (other than H264)

I was reading about the Pi at the wiki when I came across this: http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Video_does_not_play_or_plays_very_slowly It says the GPU only supports H264 video acceleration although it COULD support other formats if the foundation bought them. Does that mean that we users ca...

Re: Home Server

<t>That"s (almost) exactly what I wanted. I only have a crippled 2MBPS connection ( 256 KBPS downstream) so torrents shouldn"t be a problem here. Although since I plan to set up an SMB/FTP instead of Apache, it"d be great to know the max. physical limit of Ethernet+USB bus. Any ideas?<br/> Also, how...

<t>Great suggestions guys, but I want to hold out for a while. Just thought I"d make use of the Pi doing these thin...

<t>Damn! I thought it would handle all this.<br/> Anyways, thanks for the help guys, I"ll probably get an old P4 or something for this.<br/> <br/> @bredman<br/> That media streaming client seems like a good idea. Because then I"ll not have to buy a smart tv, I"ll just buy a regular tv and connect th...

<t>Hi all,<br/> <br/> I"ve been considering buying a secondary PC for some random things like:<br/> 1. Media streaming server (to mobile devices and a tv)<br/> 2. File server (FTP/SAMBA)<br/> 3.
